This position is responsible for developing global import and export activities to ensure compliance with U.S. and foreign customs laws and regulations as well as audit, maintain, and perform all activities associated with the Company's various Customs initiatives.

  • Provide operational and reporting support for compliance team initiatives via ACE and/or ad hoc reports through PowerBI.

  • Handle Customs Broker inquiries, classification requests, and troubleshooting-related issues in support of both internal and external customers.

  • Oversee trade agreements such as USMCA, GSP, and similar programs.

  • Communicate with Customs and other government officials, including the authorization of duty payments to Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

  • Research foreign import/export regulations relating to company's import/export activities.

  • Maintain procedures to ensure compliance with import laws and regulations. Provide procedural guidance and assist personnel in resolving complex import related issues.

  • Identify key opportunities for continuous process improvements, implement solutions to eliminate risk, and identify compliance deficiencies.

  • Work collaboratively with and provide proactive import/export compliance guidance and training to various internal stakeholders such as International Transportation, Purchasing, Finance and Warehouse groups.

  • Manage the US Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) certification to ensure compliance with US Customs and Border Protection requirements by partnering with our domestic and foreign vendors and business partners; share the company's commitment to upholding the highest level of security in our global supply chain.

  • Educate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with all CTPAT requirements.

  • Maintain C-TPAT training and awareness program with targeted training of the Minimum Security Criteria.

  • Partner with in-house attorneys and outside counsel to ensure compliance with applicable laws/regulations or in support of Customs-related litigation matters.

  • Monitor regulatory & legislative changes within tiles and slabs industries to ensure the Company is providing up-to-date information to industry trade organizations, as well as taking advantage of all available programs.

  • Manage large cross-functional projects or processes.

  • Coach, review, and delegate work to lower-level professionals.

  • Perform other duties as needed

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.

  • 6-8 years' relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Customs Broker License and/or Certified Customs Specialist (CSS) is preferred.

  • Knowledge of import/export regulations, procedures, and documentation required

  • Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own job discipline or field.

  • Strong project management skills

  • Proactive in recognizing and adjusting to shifting priorities

  • Recognized cross-functionally as an expert within one or two subject matter areas.

  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.

  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.

  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.

  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products.

  • Flexible attitude, adaptable to change, team player, and able to handle multiple projects at once.

  • High degree of professionalism, judgment, maturity, and resourcefulness in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures.

  • Temporary indirect reporting relationships may exist while working as Project lead.

  • May be required to act in senior role, providing task related advise and direction to junior team members.
