Customs Compliance Specialist Romulus, MI

Responsibilities of the Customs Compliance Specialist:

  • Learn and disseminate regional customs and compliance laws regulations
  • Ensure 100% adherence to laws, regulations, and corporate policy
  • Interpret and classify all products using Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS)
  • Research and become familiar of US Customs and OGA/PGA regulations
  • Implement and manage an import/export compliance program and policies/procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable import and export laws, statutes, and regulations across all functions as related to daily operations
  • Proficient in Bonded Warehouse Regulations
  • Oversight of all inbound and outbound good with regards to compliance with US, Mexico, Canada and other foreign government programs
  • Conduct post-entry activity/audits for review of accuracy of import/export entries and ensure audit compliance with all US Customs Regulations
  • Identify gaps in current processes and procedures. Provide recommendations to improve operational processes in Customs Compliance
  • Proficient with Customs Regulated Managements systems such as ACE Portal
  • Establish clear and concise communications both internally and externally
  • Able to pass a drug screen
  • This job requires (or may require) a criminal background check. Requirements of the Customs Compliance Specialist:

  • Bachelors Degree in Related Field or equivalent working experience in Customs Compliance
  • US Customs Brokers License (preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience with MS Office Suite
  • Attention to detail
  • Good organizational skills
  • Problem solving ability

Compensation for the Customs Compliance Specialist:

  • Pay for this position is $25.00+ per hour (depending on experience)

Schedule for the Customs Compliance Specialist:

  • Monday-Friday; 8:00am-5:00pm

This position reports directly to the Facilities Engineer. Works with minimum supervision; instructions and guidance provided on engineering aspects when required. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs work related, but not limited to, electrical and electronics, machine repair, pipefitting, fabrication and welding, and HVAC systems. Troubleshoots, installs, inspects and maintains machinery and equipment. Performs facility repairs in accordance with blueprints, manuals and codes. Performs and documents preventative maintenance tasks on various equipment throughout the plant in support of published schedules. Uses a variety of hand tools in performing plumbing, masonry, carpentry, electrical and machine repair. Operates a variety of power tools such as drills, lathes, welders, electrical and electronic test equipment and other tools common to equipment and facility repair. Performs a variety of miscellaneous facility repairs and maintenance, including plumbing, carpentry, roof repairs, HVAC systems and structural work. Applies knowledge of building and electrical codes and state and national safety standards. Maintains area, equipment, machinery and facility housekeeping and/or care as instructed. Maintain professional skills in keeping with current technology. All work must conform to applicable codes/specifications. Must maintain records and documentation of all work. Must comply to all prescribed safety rules and precautions. Recommend electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic controllers and circuitry. Advises supervisor regarding facilities, current equipment, and/or proposed equipment on technological improvements which could optimize operational efficiencies. Job Requirements Qualifications * High school graduate or GED equivalent. * Must be a UAW Journeyman, or have eight (8) years of documented, verifiable experience, or successful completion of a recognized apprenticeship program. * Working experience to a total of eight (8) years experience within one or more of the following skilled trades: Electrician, Pipefitter, Welding and Fabricator, Machine Repair Person or HVAC Repair Person. * Must be properly fitted and able to wear a respirator. * Uses and/or applies all safety directives, regulatins, and equipment provided for operations, equipment, machinery and work areas. * Electrical license, preferred. * Formal education or minimum eight years qualified experience in advanced machine logic and controls. * Advanced technical electronic knowledge to solve unusually complex problems and/or assist in the development of such circuitry. * Work with and/or on various types of electronic equipment. * Must have a detailed understanding of the inter-relationships of circuits, and ability to exercise independent judgment in performing job assignments on such. * Fluent understanding of both TI and G/L machine languages. * Must be knowledgeable in the proper handling of chemicals and waste, both hazardous and nonhazardous, as defined by FDA, OSHA, EPA and DOT.
