Reports to the Supervisor of Sales and Marketing. According to established procedures, answers telephones, greets callers, documents employee call-in, facilitates caller requests and needs.

Utilizes departmental policies and procedures to independently perform multiple tasks that support quality patient care. Provides client with test information including specimen requirements, shipping and handling specifications, pricing, correct order completion, cancellation and adding tests, plus other pertinent information. Troubleshoots issues involving multiple areas of the laboratory, including courier services, processing, pathology and all clinical departments.

Accepts supply orders, facilitates Stat/PRN courier pick-ups, and additional service requests. Checks new orders for accuracy/completeness, including correct patient name, demographic information, ordering physician, test ordered, diagnosis and billing selection. Scans documents into Epic media manager, works Missing Diagnosis, Pap Smear Denial and Spectra Health Missing Document work queues. Manages the communication log for the calling/management of critical and stat lab test results, according to applicable regulations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education- Work requires exceptional communication skills, the ability to read, write, and possess analytical skills at a level generally obtained through completion of a high school education.

Experience- Basic computer knowledge needed and some knowledge of medical terminology is strongly preferred but not required.

Skills- Approximately one to three months on the job experience necessary in order to gain an understanding and working knowledge of departmental policies, procedures and the departmental work responsibilities and duties. Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills necessary to respond to calls and inquiries involving laboratory-wide issues.

Patience and persistence in handling anxious callers under difficult circumstances. Requires analytical skills necessary to use the EPIC/Beaker and Atlas computer systems as used within the laboratory, throughout the system, and integrated into our customer's facilities and practices. Problem-solving and interpersonal skills necessary to evaluate and notify appropriate personnel to communicate and clarify any issues pertinent to patient information and specimen-related inquiries.

Sorts and delivers daily reports from LPZ2 and fax machine. 2. Stocks printers and faxes with correct paper. 3. Stocks office forms and envelopes. 4. Monitors inventory; notifies appropriate person to order custom forms when inventory is low 5. Maintains laser printers and faxes by changing toner cartridges, cleaning, calling for repairs, etc. 6. Recycles toner cartridges. 7. Charges Micro susceptibility charges in a timely manner. 8. Orders Miscellaneous slips for Blood Bank, Micro, and Surgery in a prompt manner. 9. Processes verbal authorization forms for compliance according to established procedures. 10. Accurately performs tasks and maintains records for quality improvement. 11. Accurately scans outpatient orders, verbal authorization forms, hospital registration forms, etc. in a timely manner. 12. Prioritizes work in an efficient manner. 13. Keeps work are clean and neat. 14. Responds to all requests by all customers as timely as possible. 15. Responds in a positive way when new opportunities present themselves.Promptly and efficiently responds to incoming telephone calls, patients, visitors and medical center staff in a professional manner.1. Signs on to ACD upon arrival and consistently maintains telephone in the ready mode. 2. Answers a minimum of 100 calls/shift or approximately 1/2 of the daily incoming calls. 5. Consistently handles requests for specimen transport or supplies with minimal errors. 6. Accurately records messages and communicates them in a timely manner. 7. Responds to customer complaints in a courteous manner and refers them to the appropriate person(s). 8. Courteously responds to customers at the reception desk as soon as possible. Follows through assure prompt and accurate service 9. Handles incoming calls as completely as possible; transfers a minimum number of calls. 10. Performs overhead pages in a professional mannerResponsible for monitoring LIS performance, HIS errors, and minor interface problems.1. Prints Mail 2. Accurately sorts and distributes daily mail (reports) appropriately. 3. Regularly monitors remote communications (GFAX, CDI) to be sure they all have transmitted properly. 4. Follows up on any remote communication problem. 5. Performs record purges for Medical Records (Smart Corp.), physician offices, etc. in a prompt and timely mannerResponsible for the reporting, generation and transmission of laboratory reports. Transmission may include verbal reporting, electronic reporting, and/or delivery via courier or mail service1.
