You will own, manage and drive end-to-end solutions in data infrastructure and operations. As part of the Platform and Infrastructure team, you will tackle the scalability, operations, security, performance, governance and compliance challenges of the Data Warehouse that collect, process and store data for a $2B customer eCommerce, photo, and manufacturing business. Youwill be part of building next generation Data Warehouse platform at Shutterfly on AWS, supporting the breadth and depth of the company's analytic needs, including BI, Data Scientists, Product Management, Product Marketing, CRM, as well the Machine Learning teams providing innovations in our Websites, Mobile Apps and Manufacturing Labs. The ideal candidate will thrive on the operations and production of data intensive systems and be motivated to work at moving the infrastructure towards an automated and highly metrics driven environment. If you like applying your expertise on continuous integration, data/system architecture, and data operational and infrastructure skills to multi-terabyte, multi-source data warehouse on AWS, come and join the Shutterfly Data Warehouse Development team Responsibilities: * Develop pipelines for continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) of data infrastructure and full-stack applications on AWS, as well as continually improving the operation, security and performance of the Data Warehouse * Peak performance and uptime as the #1 focus, so you will be focused on building a system and pipelines with availability, scalability, performance, and security in mind * Monitor & manage all aspects of system security, performance, storage, incidents and usage – for databases, applications, and servers on AWS and at data center * Proactively identify major performance issues across multiple applications and work with teams to remediate * Deploy, support and own various data warehouse full-stack infrastructure applications * Develop & deliver tools, pipelines and framework to accelerate development and improve team agility, e.g. automation, failure notification system, backup/recovery plan, etc. * Use your coding skills across a number of languages including Cloud Formation, Python and/or Java and build appropriate instrumentation to collect metrics on system performance, cost, data ingress/egress/acquisition/storage processes and business critical reports * Work with information security and compliance teams in governing policies and procedures * Have a clear understanding of the reports/analyses/insights to be driven by data and build data driven solutions to optimally support the operational analytics needs * Coordinate infrastructure enhancements and maintenance with the system/network engineering teams * Perform technology evaluations and testing to introduce new technologies to be adopted by the data warehouse team * Actively support the team's SLAs and communicate issues to the business as necessary * Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation to handle issues that occur outside of business hours Requirements: * 5+ years of experience in software development and implementing distributed and high-performance message driven systems/services * Experience with system operations with regard to capacity planning for holiday-peaks, availability analysis, load testing and corresponding risk-mitigation strategies is desired * Strong CS fundamentals, experience developing with object-oriented programming (Java, Python) and able to write programs for automation, metrics collection and system administration purposes * Experience in building CI/CD pipelines and deploying Cloud environment is a big plus. * Experience with databases, like Amazon Redshift and Teradata, is preferred * Understanding of automation and orchestration platforms such as Automic (formerly UC4), Airflow.. etc * Understanding of Hadoop or Spark, including manipulating data with Hive and potentially with Java or Python (experience building/maintaining clusters a big plus) * Ability to learn quickly and think outside of the box * Excellent communication skills (written and oral) * Understanding of streaming technologies and concepts used with data warehouses, is preferred Shutterfly, Inc.
