Position Purpose:

Customer Service/Sales associates provide fast, friendly service by actively seeking out customers to assess their needs and provide assistance. These associates learn about products using our tools, and provide information to customers in order to sell an entire project.

Associates in this position will learn how to greet, qualify, recommend and close every customer in their department, and know how to handle basics in adjacent departments. Customer Service/Sales associates maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas, and ensure it is clean, shop-able, and safe. Each associate has the responsibility of providing a safe working and shopping environment by following all safety policies & standards, completing specified safety training, immediately correcting hazards & unsafe conditions or reporting conditions to the Manager on Duty, and working safely as not to endanger themselves, co-workers, vendors, or customers.

These associates work in cooperation with their Department Supervisor and other associates in their department as well as other departments. Specific store departments may include Building Materials, Dcor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing and Tool Rental. The Customer Service/Sales position types may include Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, and Customer Order Specialist.

This includes establishing life cycle procedures, and thereafter maintaining current business through promoting, selling and securing new electronic control, switch and sensor and business with select OE accounts. Position Responsibilities: Explore and prospect new business opportunities with assigned customers; promote defined target applications and technologies to potential customers. Respond to proposals for specific customer inquiries. Develop sales plans to introduce products at assigned customers. Track customer performance to what was quoted and be able to defend price increases for volume shortfalls or raw material increases. Work with all departments within ZF to achieve lower costs and address voids in competitive designs, processes and practices. Schedule and participate in engineering meetings related to customer requested design changes; initiate visits and meetings with customer personnel to develop and maintain their goodwill and confidence in our organization. Negotiate and present selling prices and tooling costs to customer purchasing representatives; submit price increases to customers and review credits with customers and recommend action plans. Recommend and participate in the establishment of selling prices, tooling mark-ups, program timing and program feasibility in cooperation with engineering and management. Drive and lead the technology evaluation stage of the sales process working as the key technical advisor and product advocate for automotive components. Differentiate product offerings from competitors by applying a creative, innovative and value-added sales approach to be included in bidding opportunities with objective of securing new business. Support program management responsibilities from conception to launch (this includes any ongoing engineering changes to product design during production). Follow all applicable ZF Sales procedures. Provide customer value identification support including customer cost savings programs and audits from the customer. Develop and deliver technical sales presentations. Participate in continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training, reviewing professional publications, establishing and expanding professional networks, and participating in professional societies. Comply with all IATF16949 policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.
