Position Purpose:

Customer Service/Sales associates provide fast, friendly service by actively seeking out customers to assess their needs and provide assistance. These associates learn about products using our tools, and provide information to customers in order to sell an entire project.

Associates in this position will learn how to greet, qualify, recommend and close every customer in their department, and know how to handle basics in adjacent departments. Customer Service/Sales associates maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas, and ensure it is clean, shop-able, and safe. Each associate has the responsibility of providing a safe working and shopping environment by following all safety policies & standards, completing specified safety training, immediately correcting hazards & unsafe conditions or reporting conditions to the Manager on Duty, and working safely as not to endanger themselves, co-workers, vendors, or customers.

These associates work in cooperation with their Department Supervisor and other associates in their department as well as other departments. Specific store departments may include Building Materials, Dcor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing and Tool Rental. The Customer Service/Sales position types may include Department Sales, Lead Generator, Pro Account Sales, Sales Specialist, Special Services, and Customer Order Specialist.

VIEW JOBS 4/12/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-11T00:00 Summary: The Customer Service Representative will work with current and potential customers, suppliers, utility companies and contractors by answering product and service questions; suggesting information about other products and services, process orders, apply for and track utility rebates, provide logistical support, perform market research, assist with bids and proposals, prepare correspondences and ensure customer satisfaction. Duties and Responsibilities: * Maintain utility rebates database, process rebates, follow-up on status and ensure timely payment * Resolve product or service problems; determining the cause of the problem; selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem; expediting correction or adjustment; following up to ensure resolution * Recommend potential products or services by collecting customer information and analyzing customer needs * Assist in preparing bids, proposals and payback analyses * Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks quickly with minimum mistakes * Assist in generating sales leads * Build sustainable relationships of trust through open and interactive communication * Provide accurate, valid and complete information by using the right methods/tools * Keep records, process accounts and file documents * Go the extra mile to engage people * Greet everyone warmly * Place or cancel orders * Answer questions about rebates, warranties or terms of sale Education/Qualifications: * High school diploma, general education degree or equivalent * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Must have knowledge of local utility rebate programs * Knowledge of electrical, lighting or construction supplies required * Must have excellent people, phone, listening, reporting, organizational, documentation, time management and attention to details skills * Microsoft Office experience required Reporting Structure: * This position reports directly to the HR Manager Prospective employees will receive consideration without discrimination of race, creed, religion, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, or veteran status.
