Whole Foods Market is looking for people to join our team in Portsmouth, NH. This will be our 3rd location in New Hampshire, 50 miles from both New Hampshire stores and our Portland, ME store.

Conveniently located in the Durgin Square Shopping Center.

Starting Rate $15hr.

Easily accessible in minutes via I-95 along Woodbury Avenue and via public transit options: C&J Bus lines #42 & #54.

Whole Foods Market Team Members perform all functions related to answering customers' questions, assisting customers in finding products, and providing excellent customer service.

We have positions available and are hiring in the following departments:

Prepared Foods: production, counter and runners (pizza, charcuterie, hot food, salad bar, sandwiches), utility workers/dishwashers

Bakery: production (bread mixers, pastry production, cake decorators) and counter

Customer Service: cash registers, customer/cashier assistants (carts, bag groceries, general help) and customer service booth; facility/store maintenance and janitorial staff

Grocery: grocery, frozen foods, dry goods, dairy and bulk foods, may include housewares

Whole Body: You'll find vitamins, supplements, body care and makeup here

Meat: fresh, frozen and smoked natural meats and poultry; butchers, wrappers and counter help

Produce/Floral: production (cut fruit) and retail - fresh and packaged produce items; may include cut fruit and vegetables, fresh juices, juice, bouquets and plants; may include gardening supplies, gift baskets

Seafood: fresh, frozen and smoked seafood

Specialty: cheese, beer; coffee bar, chocolate and housewares

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet and greet customers with a smile; respond to customer needs and concerns

  • Provide exceptional, personalized service

  • Treat customers and fellow Team Members with courtesy and respect

  • Educate customers about the products and gain a good knowledge of products

  • Be a great listener and have patience

  • Act dependably, be responsible, and communicate well

  • Work a flexible schedule, including holidays and weekends

  • Be organized and highly motivated

  • Continually preform cleaning duties to insure cleanliness of store

  • Complete all opening, mid and closing checklists

  • Act and think safely in all areas of the store and your performance

  • Must follow and adhere to all polices listed in store policy packet including dress code and attending store meetings

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Ability to work rotating shifts Monday through Sunday including nights, weekends, and holidays. There are no set schedules or guarantees of schedules

  • Be able to work/be placed in surrounding stores

  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time (8-hour shifts)

  • Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders. Bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders and squat

  • Bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 pounds. Push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds

  • Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation

  • Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezer, outdoors, etc.)

  • Able to respond to all customer needs and communicate in a friendly way

  • Very energetic and a positive attitude; accessible and approachable

  • A desire to satisfy customers' needs

  • A passion for people, food, and the business

  • Desire to learn and teach and gain good product knowledge

All Whole Foods Market Retail jobs require ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times. Further, Team Members must be prepared and able to perform the duties inherent in other Team Member job descriptions. Team Leaders are required to spend significant time on the floor, engaging with customers, and pitching in to help whenever and wherever needed. All positions must strive to support WFM core values and goals, promote national, regional, and store programs and initiatives, and ensure adherence to all applicable health and safety regulations. Responsibilities * Cuts, prepares, and serves a variety of hot and cold foods, including meats, cheeses, sandwiches, burritos, wraps, salad, and pizza. * Samples products to customers. * Stocks hot and cold cases and displays with prepared foods from kitchen, walk-in preparation, and refrigerators. * Checks in-stock product dates to ensure freshness and rotates when necessary. * Bails and consolidates recyclables. * Assists Team Leader in organizing and displaying volume and seasonal items. * Completes spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required. * Assists with periodic inventory checks. * Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work; works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings. * Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques; answers phones and pages promptly and courteously. * Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product. * Follows and complies, or ensures compliance, with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices. * Maintains, or ensures maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintains equipment in accordance with WFM cleanliness and safety standards. * Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensures accuracy of signs and pricing. * Immediately reports safety hazards and violations.
