Scope of Position:

This position is part of Corning's Environmental Technologies Samples organization located at the Erwin Manufacturing Facility. As the Customer Service Technician CET Samples, you will be responsible for the daily customer service and planning function within the Technology Development and Samples Organization (TDSO). This includes working with both internal and external customers on sample delivery, including responding to all customer queries in a timely manner. In this role you will generate responses to requests for quotations, entering orders into PeopleSoft, collaborating with account teams to ensure proper product code setup, maintaining sales reports, ensuring accurate pricing, and owning the overall communications to customers regarding their sample order status. In addition, you will assist in the identification of WIP, and provide back-up to the Quality Assurance and shipping technicians. Our team is also responsible for leading process improvement projects within the Customer Service function.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Order Entry (PeopleSoft-Supply Chain): Researching Codes, Customers, Split Orders

  • Update shipping information

  • Maintaining Open Orders report, and communicating customer expedites Generating sales reports

  • Executing the Credit Card Pre-approval process

  • Responding to Request for Quotations (RFQ's) from external customers, including lead time and pricing

  • Ensuring Product Code Approval through NPS Tracking Ocean Shipments

  • Maintaining and executing accurate Credit/Rebill activities

  • Providing Return Material Authorizations when needed

  • Establishing New Customer Setups and updates to existing customers

  • Maintaining communications with internal and external customers and responding to inquiries

  • Researching and answering Invoice inquiries

  • Generating Certificates of Origin

  • Maintaining the Supplier Interaction Portal (Honda)

  • Maintaining the Kiln

  • Scheduling for samples Identifying ware for sample orders

  • Input orders into the TDSO planning and scheduling system

  • Maintaining sample delivery metrics for the organization

Required Skills

  • AS or AAS in a technical or scientific discipline

  • Dedicated customer oriented

  • Committed to process discipline

  • Proficiency in MS office including Excel, Word and Power Point

  • Experience with documenting processes or procedures

Scope of Position As the Corning Environmental Technologies (CET) Development Intern, you will have the opportunity to develop an operating understanding for the Malvern Insitec in-line particle size analyzer and its associated sampling techniques including hardware for semi-dense phase sample collection. You will identify the limits and instrument capability to test more than a single raw material stream at one time from a single instrument. Additionally, you will determine the minimum and maximum number of raw material streams that can be sampled and can accurately provide a representative particle size distribution from a single Malvern Insitec instrument. Day to Day Responsibilities: * Design experiments, execute, analyze and draw preliminary conclusions that permit additional experimentation planning. * Present the results to a group of co-workers and colleagues. * Provide hands on execution of experiments in plant settings collecting data and driving experiments to completion. * Report writing, spreadsheet operations, graphical analyses, provides basic Microsoft Office operations of everyday laboratory work to include Power Point, Excel, and Word. * Work closely with the equipment manufacturer to optimize how the measurement equipment is being used to utilize the full potential of the technology within the Corning applications. Travel Requirements: * Occasional travel to our division plants within Corning valley Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: * 40 hours per week, M-F (core hours 9am - 3pm) Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration): * Pursuing Bachelor's Degree - Graduating senior or graduate student in Ceramic Engineering/Material Science Required Skills: * Deep knowledge of materials processing * Strong mechanical skills to accompany formal ceramic training * Strong communication skills, both written and oral * Experimentation: planning, execution, analysis of process data, recommendations, and documentation. * Strong interpersonal skills to work with plant personnel for equipment testing * Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point Desired Skills: * Mechanical aptitude, ability to collaborate with Mechanical Designers and other specialists * Experience in material characterization * Deep knowledge of statistical data analysis to develop and implement process control strategies Soft Skills (Communication/Team/Leadership) * Self-starter with technical curiosity to learn new things and bring new ideas This position does not support immigration sponsorship.
