VIEW JOBS 11/18/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-16T00:00 The highly visible position of Customer Service Representative (CSR) is AMERICAN's single point of contact for service of customer account-related issues. Customer service is provided through immediate, direct assistance and decision making for all customer requests. In addition to being the customer/company liaison for all order management issues, including bidder questions and quotes, status queries, changes, substitutions, complaints, claims and back charges, the CSR is responsible for proactive anticipation and management of customer service-related needs. The CSR will also act as "Virtual" Team Leader, coordinating supplemental Customer Service Support Team members throughout the organization, including Sales Engineers, Manufacturing, Accounting, Credit, Purchasing, Take-off, and Drafting personnel. The CSR will also be responsible for project documentation. * Provides the highest quality customer service and assistance possible to AMERICAN customers. Represents AMERICAN as the single point of contact for all customer account-related issues. Always handles stressful situations in a courteous, sensitive, and responsive manner, always maintaining professionalism. * Coordinates resolution of all customer-related issues by acting as Team Leader for all Virtual Teams created to assist the CSR in serving the customer. Communicates with all relevant groups, including (but not limited to) manufacturing, shipping, sales engineers, distributors, engineers, and contractors to gather, resolve and distribute necessary information to satisfy the customers' requests. * Develops expert-level understanding and familiarity with the customers' business and unique needs. Creates and builds partner-type relationship with customer. Proactively anticipates customer needs and addresses before receiving customer inquiry. * Enters customer orders into the computer system for manufacture and shipment. Monitors orders to insure timely shipment. * Initiates material return request and credit as needed to maintain reputation of product and customer relations. Reviews invoices to insure accuracy of credit. * Assists field salespeople, as required, to enhance customer service. * Prepares daily/weekly/monthly reports as requested by CS management to maintain normal operations of the department. * Actively participates in continuous improvement programs for CS and AMERICAN. * Identifies and utilizes the communication mode (e.g., phone, fax, mail, or special courier) which best serves the customer's request. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Five years customer service experience in a technical environment. * Technical experience or related training in drafting and engineering. * Bachelors (4-year college) degree or Associates (2-year) degree with College courses completed in engineering, math, business administration or marketing. * Demonstrate the ability to read, comprehend and analyze technical information including blueprints and quotation cut sheets. * Demonstrate knowledge of AMERICAN products and applications. * Demonstrate sales ability. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS: * Sitting at adjustable work stations for long periods of time required to perform desk activities, computer/data entry, writing orders, filing, looking up materials, telephone use, etc. * Standing and walking required to go to and utilize copier and fax machine, retrieve and return files, walking within work area, etc. * Stooping and/or crouching (personal preference) required to retrieve materials from low file drawers. * Overhead reach to approximately 4 feet to retrieve materials while seated. * Forward reach is required throughout the day to perform most job duties - data entry, telephone use, desk activities, etc. * Bended reach is required to retrieve materials from low file drawers. * Handling is required for telephone use, stapler, binders, etc. * Use of fingers is required for long periods of time for writing, keyboarding, telephone, and calculator use, etc. * Talking is required on telephone and one to one for communication with customers, co-workers, and supervisors. * Vision is required for accuracy in data entry, reading specifications on drawings, etc. * Hearing is required for communication on telephone and one to one. * Lifting and/or carrying books, binders, files, etc. is required 10 lbs maximum. * Pushing and pulling with up to 5 lbs force maximally required for opening and closing file drawers.
