Position: Customer Service Supervisor

Reports To: Team Leaders

Department: Store Operations

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Position Overview:

The Customer Service Supervisor ensures the efficient operation of the front end of the store. The Customer Service Supervisor leads a sales team that is passionate about selling merchandise and ensuring a good customer experience. Responsibilities include aspects of customer service, merchandising, and store maintenance.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that every customer receives outstanding service by all associates working on the front end including greeting and acknowledging every customer, being knowledgeable of the product in the store, and being efficient on the register.

  • Resolve customer service issues including answering questions, assisting to complete transactions, and communicating customer requests to Team Leaders when necessary.

  • Communicate all promotions and advertisements to the front end team so they can answer customer questions and/or assist with selling items.

  • Ensure that all product at the front end is merchandised per the visual merchandise standards.

  • Maintain a neat and organized front end work area.

  • Ensure that the front-end, entrance, and exterior of the building are maintained properly.

  • Assist with receiving the truck and recovering the store.

  • Ensure that front end operations, store standards, Redbook compliance, and company programs meet all operational expectations.

  • Perform all Team Leader functions to open and close the store when needed.

  • Assist with coaching, training, developing, evaluating, and supervising front end Associates.

  • Provide leadership to front end associates regarding all donation programs and Ollie's Army sign up and membership.

  • Work with the Store Team Leader or Assistant Team Leader to assist with front end shrink and mail/supplies activities.

  • Complete any additional responsibilities and/or duties as assigned.

  • Must have a positive attitude and the ability to interact well with customers and Associates.


  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum of one to two years' retail experience in a mid-size to large retail service-oriented business; previous supervisory responsibility in a retail environment is helpful.

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays on a regular basis.

  • Ability to read, write and speak English.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment.

  • Ability to preserve confidentiality of information.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks and activities and work within strict timeframes and deadlines.

  • Knowledge of industry terms and processes.

  • Ability to effectively communicate information and delegate tasks.

  • Outstanding interpersonal and listening skills.

  • Must have a positive attitude and the ability to interact well with others.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to push and pull up to 35 pounds.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.

  • Ability to bend and twist frequently.

  • Ability to grip, reach, and pinch with arms and hands frequently.

  • Ability to squat, kneel, balance, and climb ladders occasionally.

  • Ability to see, hear, and speak regularly.

  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

VIEW JOBS 12/8/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-03-07T00:00 Ohio Department of Public Safety - Bureau of Motor Vehicles/Office of Driver Services/Vehicle Information Services/License Support Document Management Report in location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223 Greet & respond to in-person, telephone &/or written inquiries in a professional, courteous, friendly, respectful & timely manner to ensure positive internal &/or external customer service; Listen carefully to internal/external customer's questions &/or concerns & ask appropriate follow-up questions to verify understanding; Provide a complete, knowledgeable, accurate, precise response immediately or provide a firm commitment as to when a response will be provided; Follow-up to ensure all of the customer's questions &/or concerns have been thoroughly answered; Serve as a lead worker & provide work direction & assistance to the lower-level Customer Service Assistants & Office Professionals within the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), Verification Services Section (VSS) (e.g., provide guidance on a daily basis, assist with escalated issues, oversee training of employees in job duties & computer applications, make recommendations to supervisors of staff specific training needs, etc.); Monitor the staffs production on a continual basis (e.g., mail, faxes, email responses & computer entries); Prepare reports to show status of production levels; Works with supervisors to identify staff production deficiencies; Assist with the implementation of the correction action plan that was developed by the supervisor; Investigate & resolve problems or complaints pertaining to Verification Services processes (e.g., interpretation of ODPS & BMV rules & regulations, laws, & procedures regarding Verification Services); Work with other employees from other units &/or sections of the BMV on inquires related to VSS tasks; Operate personal computer to enter data into identified databases; Generate correspondence based on requests from customers, other government agencies, courts & law enforcement offices; Assist in development & implementation of special projects (e.g., Next of Kin, MeCerts, etc.) by offering suggestions, attending group meetings, training sessions, seminars with section supervisors; Work with vendor's to address processes, forms & deadlines; Monitor invoices for accuracy & compliance; Review documentation to ensure vendor's adhere to contract. Act as a liaison between the staff in other sections to clarify any uncertainty in rule interpretations to assure correct & accurate information is being issued by the CSA & OP 2 staff concerning BMV Verification Services issues; Research more difficult inquiries received from staff & perform a thorough investigation to resolve complaints from the general public, law enforcement agencies, other governmental agencies, etc. to resolve problems &/or issues; Develop & ensure training plans & manuals are created for each unit within Verification Services & are available to staff; Provide monthly report of training's completed, scheduled training & recommendations for additional training's.
