Using the co-op's End statement as a guide, provide and promote excellent customer service in all customer interactions, and to assist front end staff
Greet all customers as they enter the Co-op or as you encounter them in the aisles
Signal your availability by making eye contact and engaging in small talk
Offer professional, friendly and courteous service
Keenly observe shoppers so you can anticipate their needs
Assist customers with questions and requests
Continuously familiarize yourself with the layout of the store and available staff and resources
Be an active listener and ask clarifying questions to determine the customer's needs
Offer personalized, genuine service
Answer phone with friendly greeting, route incoming calls, and take messages
Alert FE Shift Lead, Front End Managers or Manager On Duty to assist in bagging and collecting grocery carts
Be familiar with all store forms and procedures for using them
Assist customers with sale of transit passes, stamps, ownerships, gift certificates, gift cards, and other media
Process refunds and shop backs
Follow established opening and closing procedures for customer service
Read co-op email and memos book updates and huddle notes each shift
Promote ownership benefits to non-owners
Process paperwork for ownership purchases and provide owner materials to new owners
Maintain inventory of new owner packets
Other projects as requested by Ownership and Marketing Manager and approved by Customer Service Coordinator and/or Front End leadership team
Other duties as assigned
Stock Sprout, Mix, Co-op Advantage, ownership Information, Co-op brochures, bus schedules and other materials
Keep customer service and free periodicals areas clean and organized
Other duties as assigned by CS Manager and/or Front End Manager
Reception/Floor specialist duties when assigned
Serve as Floor Warden in case of any emergency
Customer service experience
Command of written and spoken English
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a calm and accurate manner
Ability to problem solve
Demonstrated ability to work with others
Regular attendance and timeliness
Microsoft and database experience a plus
Ability to lift 20 lbs.
Ability to do math computations to assist customers and cashiers, including addition, subtraction, division, fractions, decimals and percentages.
Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, squat and walk for extended periods of time per shift
Bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 pounds. Push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds.
Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
Ability to freely access all areas of the store including offices, sales floor, back stock areas, and walk-in coolers and freezers.
Ability to move or handle merchandise throughout the store generally weighing up to 50 pounds
Multilingual is a plus
Demonstrated ability to work with customers and co-workers from various cultural backgrounds
