Northwestern Memorial Hospital (NMH) is a nationally ranked academic medical center hospital located in downtown Chicago , Illinois . Along with its Prentice Women's Hospital and Stone Institute of Psychiatry, the hospital provides a total of 894 inpatient beds and encompasses more than 3 million square feet of medical building space.
Prior security experience preferred.
21 years of age and older
Must be a high school graduate (GED accepted) and provide us with a copy of your diploma and/or transcripts
Must have or be willing to obtain a 20-hour training certificate.
Demonstrating a stable work history and/or education.
Must be a cooperative team player with good oral and written communication skills.
Must be capable of evaluating, investigating and reporting all types of security and law enforcement incidents.
Must be able to withstand extended periods of walking and standing.
Must maintain a working telephone number through which we can contact you.
Must have reliable transportation.
Must have a friendly and outgoing personality that is accustomed to interacting with people
One-year customer service experience required.
Must have an excellent appearance and attitude (pride in your uniform and job is essential).
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Must have an excellent attendance and job performance record.
Must be a motivated, self-starter with the willingness and ability to function with limited supervision.
Must be able to multi-task in a service oriented environment.
Must be flexible with scheduling and be able to hold over to the next shift or work extra hours as needed.
Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook Email or the ability to learn.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office & Word or the ability to learn.
Must be able to pass drug screening.
Must be able to pass background check.
General Job Duties:
Stand to greet employees and visitors as they enter and exit the facility.
Interact with customers while on their feet, out from behind the information desks.
Ability to stand for periods of 30 minutes or more at a time.
Demonstrate superior customer service skills by actively listening to customer messages.
Display a friendly and professional appearance, smiling and at ease while serving guests.
Interact with high profile guests.
Work independently, focusing on the customer at all times.
Notify employees of the building that guests are waiting for them.
Provide clear and precise directions.
Handle customer questions and complaints, communicates with customers, handles service problems politely and efficiently, always available for customers, follows procedure to solve customer problems, understands company products and services, maintains pleasant and professional image.
Provide way-finding and guest question responses during peak guest-traffic timeframes, while on their feet and out from behind the information desks.
Proactively seeks opportunities to meet or exceed the expectations of the visitor.
Responsible for monitoring the physical appearance of the lobby and visitor areas.
Be aware of employee and visitor foot traffic, noticing those needing assistance and those who are out of place and possibly trespassing.
Move in and around the general desk are while on your feet.
Possess local and regional geographical knowledge in order to assist customers.
Able to identify safety and security concerns and promptly report them to dispatch.
