U-Haul meet our customers' needs and demands. U-Haul's needs for Customer Service Representatives are significantly greater on evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Day to day duties of a Customer Service Representative:

As a Customer Service Representative you will interface with U-Haul customers to identify what they are looking for so that you can recommend the best moving supplies or storage solutions for their moving needs. A Customer Service Representative will assist customers inside the U-Haul Center by educating them on our products and services, answering questions, and preparing rental invoices. Once properly trained, Customer Service Representatives may also assist customers outside on the lot as well by installing trailer hitches and light wiring harnesses on customer's vehicles, ensuring vehicle fluid levels are properly filled, performing clean-up of trucks, trailers, and other rental items, and accepting equipment returned from rental.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Hear and sense customer needs and keep your manager and fellow team members informed

  • Complete training and maintain knowledge by participating in on-line and hands on educational and training opportunities

High School Diploma or equivalent

Work Environment:

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts or machines, fumes or irritant chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing, or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves or shields.

Physical Demands:

The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities, and lifting a minimum of 50 lbs assisted or unassisted.

This person will execute all customer service operations from order to invoice, including customer interaction/relationship, customer order processing & confirmation, and system reporting/analysis. This position will be on call 24/7 on a rotating basis. Principal Accountabilities 60% Customer Service Operations. * Apply basic understanding of customer service practices and procedures for meeting customer needs. * Execute all day-to-day customer order fulfillment activities, such as: * New customer setup processes. * Customer order processing, scheduling, amendments and cancellations. * Pricing analysis to support credit/debit notes. * Customer Solutions such as VMI (vendor managed inventory) or consignment. * Issues involving invoices or payments. 25% Customer Relationships. * Interacts with customers through regular dialogues to understand customers' requirements and expectations. * Monitor and track customer consumption verses expected demand and proactively communicate with customers to ask for their new orders. * Informs customers of order status, invoices, contract balances, and other standard information needed to complete the sale. * Resolve customer complaints. * Assist in coordination with supply chain planning, plant operations, finance, logistics and sales departments to fulfill customer orders. * Accountability Category. 10% Sales Support. * Collaborate with Sales Account Managers to provide support for customer visits. * Assist in execution of sales customer account plans. 5% Duties / Ability to travel. Required Qualifications: * High School Diploma or GED equivalent * 5 years' experience in Customer Service or Sales * Ability to be on call 24/7 on a rotating basis. Preferred Qualifications: * College Degree. * Knowledge of SAP * Knowledge of EDI order processing (Electronic Data Interface) * Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word and Excel. * Strong customer service orientation: ability to build relationships with customers, understand customer requirements, and generate solutions that anticipate customer needs. * Strong math skills. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple priorities and making good decisions in times of urgency. * Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with the appropriate business audience both in person and over the phone. * Demonstrated ability to think and act independently and take initiative when appropriate. * Strong analytical skills and attention to detail * Well-developed conflict management skills * Ability to work in a team environment * Interest in continuous learning * Interest in innovative processes.
