  • Answers incoming customer calls and greets customers warmly and assists with any customer issues or questions.

  • Takes payment information and other required information such as addresses and phone numbers for customer checkout

  • Places or cancels customer merchandise orders

  • Answers customer questions about warranties or terms of sale

  • Opens, closes and balances register

  • Upholds company standards for merchandise presentation and cash wrap cleanliness

  • Assists store with other tasks as business need arises


  • Computer and clerical experience is preferred

  • Must have excellent customer service skills

  • Data entry skills preferred

  • Must have good organizational skills

  • Credit check may be required

  • High school diploma or GED is required

  • Full time retail schedule, including evenings/nights, weekends and holidays, with overtime as needed

  • Required to successfully complete a pre-employment background check prior to beginning employment.

Monitors the airport facilities/grounds, closed circuit television (CCTV), and alarm notifications; completes and files incident reports if the need is identified. Reports inappropriate activities and ensures compliance with applicable City, State, and Federal policies regarding airport safety and security. Job Description KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic. * Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, methods, and equipment. * Knowledge of telephone and radio operating requirements, techniques, and etiquette. * Skills and speed in the operation of radio and telephone equipment. * Ability to speak with a clear, well-modulated voice in the English and Spanish language. * Ability to use a computer keyboard, type a minimum of 40 WPM, and maintain and update manual and electronic files and record systems. * Ability to make arithmetic computations and tabulations accurately. * Ability to maintain clerical records and to prepare reports from such records. * Ability to maintain good planning and organizational skills. * Ability to deal courteously and diplomatically with the public. * Ability to use computer hardware, various software programs and technologies, including word processing and Excel spreadsheet programs. * Ability to take and follow directions from supervisor. * Ability to give directions to and gain compliance from assigned staff. * Ability to perform strenuous and routine work. * Ability to maintain a valid Texas Driver License and a good driving record. * Ability to maintain harmonious and effective working relationships with other employees and respond to general public complaints. * Ability to project a positive and professional image of the City of Laredo. * Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language. * Ability to comply with all City of Laredo's policies and procedures. * Ability to maintain good health and physical condition sufficient to permit the full performance of the duties of the position. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed inside and/or outside an office. Work may be exposed to weather conditions and outdoor elements, such as: excessive intermittent noise. Work may be exposed to a variety of environmental conditions, such as: dry atmosphere, solvents, dirt, and constant noise. Capable of working closely with others or alone, working long or irregular working hours, working shift work and/or weekends, working around moving objects or vehicles, and traveling by car 15% of the time. Ability to operate a motor vehicle, office equipment, and mechanical equipment; Work requires light to moderate carrying and occasional lifting (under 15 pounds up to 50 pounds), straight pulling, pulling hand over hand, simple grasping, repeated bending, sitting, standing, pushing, crouching, twisting, kneeling, stooping, climbing stairs, walking, and reaching above shoulders. Ability to see, write, read, count, identify shade of colors, perceive depth, and hearing is needed to perform the essential functions of this job. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provides information regarding department's policies, City ordinances, and applicable federal regulation. * Checks customer's information to ensure that accounts are current. * Resolves customers' complaints accordingly. * Tracks complaints and ensures that they are handled properly. * Receives, reviews, and processes airport access media badge applications and revisions in accordance with policies and procedures set forth by the Transportation Security Administration. * Inputs airport access media badging applications and required technical data into appropriate computer applications and systems. * Issues original and renewal airport access media. * Maintains records associated with access media applications and completes necessary forms to approve or deny access media. * Provides counter and telephone service to the general public; answers questions and explains airport access media related issues; and furnishes applicant with information concerning airport access media operations or regulations, legal requirements, and rights, privileges and responsibilities. * Approves applications for airport access media based on federal regulations and airport security program policies and procedures. * Monitors closed circuit television. * Delivers time sensitive correspondence to stakeholders. * Communicates and documents all telecommunications. * Responds to security alarms. * Prepares correspondence, memos billing and reports as needed. * Performs inter-departmental audits and quality control of access media files. * Assists in maintaining good communication between staff, visitors, and other business contacts. * Must follow all rules of telephone courtesy in all telephone communications. * Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use. * Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or G.E.D. * AND- At least three (3) years of experience involving customer service, public relations, communications or performing complex application processing to further the issuance of permits, certificates, licenses and secure access media (security access cards) or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Selected applicant must undergo a 10-year Federal background check to be conducted by the Airport Department in order to verify that the individual meets federal standards to obtain an airport security clearance, which is an essential tool to perform required duties. Valid Licenses and Certifications Valid Texas Driver License* * If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained prior to employment. As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment. Effective February 24, 1997, all selected applicants are required to undergo a drug and alcohol test prior to employment. Effective January 7, 2008, all persons in safety-sensitive functions/positions, as per City of Laredo Drug and Alcohol Policy definition, shall be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
