Halifax Health is seeking a Customer Service Representative for the PBFS Department.


This individual provides customer service to patients/guarantors by telephone, letter, e-mail or personal contact regarding their inpatient, outpatient, physician and emergency department accounts. Responds, evaluates and initiates action on patient account inquiries and complaints in a prompt and courteous manner.

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

  • Associate's degree with major in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or at least four years in a related field, which can be substituted for the college education requirements.

  • At least four years experience in hospital business office, or allied health services dealing with patient and business affairs.

  • Must be able to deal effectively with the public and use good judgment in the pursuit of resolving accounts.

  • Must have good language skills, including the ability to formulate comprehensive system account notes, and prepare customer letters.

  • Must have good general knowledge of hospital admissions, insurance billing, and collections procedures.

  • Must have general PC operational knowledge and skills.
