SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
This position is responsible for providing our passengers with superior customer service from behind the ticket counter or on the station floor or platform. The ability to maintain a positive, good natured attitude is essential. The incumbent will be responsible for greeting, servicing and general comfort of each passenger. Representative must be comfortable with interacting with customers, speaking on a public address system and using Amtrak computer systems. Will be assigned to cover vacancies at Florence, SC and Columbia, SC and be on-call to perform such assignments. Ability to work any day of the week or shift.
Perform janitorial duties as required and necessary.
Ensure safety and security of station, platform and surrounding areas for passengers, employees, vendors etc.
Must be skilled in the processing of all types of Amtrak tickets and must have a thorough understanding of tariffs to properly price tickets.
Make ticket reports promptly, properly safeguard company funds and prepare reports related to ticketing activity, baggage handling and other station and train operations.
Must be qualified with the operation of Arrow, Railres/Stars and Quik-Trak.
Agent will be governed by all Corporate and station policies.
Must be able to qualify on forklift operation.
Provide up to date train status to passengers.
Responsible for the proper care and preventative maintenance of the ticket printers, Quik-Trak machines, wheelchair lifts, electric carts and other station related equipment.
Keep all information racks filled as needed.
Must be able to lift 50lbs
Provide assistance to passengers while boarding and detraining including required ADA assistance.
Provide and arrange alternate transportation and/or lodging options in the event of service disruptions and/or misconnections.
Perform miscellaneous clerical duties related to the ticket office and/or station.
Responsible for the dissemination of both verbal and printed information to passengers including schedules, fares, routing, city highlights, baggage, boarding information, tours and other intermodal transportation.
Prepare and properly price baggage and baggage express shipments.
Work with other station employees to ensure all passenger train boarding(s) are timely.
Will verify passengers are properly ticketed or have the proper travel documents, and ensure compliance with baggage requirements prior to admission to station platforms.
Representative must comply with the company's uniform and grooming policy to present a positive image on behalf of Amtrak through manners, actions and personal style.
Must attend annual Customer Service, Policies and Safety related training.
Must be able to work under pressure; learn policy and procedures quickly; be able to work with minimal supervision.
Cash handling experience.
Ability to learn computer based skills.
Must have valid driver's license.
COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
