Job Description:
3M is seeking a Customer Service Representative for the Advanced Materials Division located in Irvine, CA. At 3M, you can apply your talent in bold ways that matter. Here, you go.

Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of Customer Service Rep. will engage in activities to enhance the level of customer satisfaction, specifically providing company product information, quotations, order processing and post order follow up.

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Answer non-routine inquiries from potential and existing customers

  • Enter and confirm orders

  • Monitor orders and deliveries, track shipments with carriers

  • Answer customer order expedite and status inquiries

  • Provide post order support; obtain CofC, shipping docs, etc

  • Contact customers regarding non-working inventory monthly or as needed

  • Pro-active account management; review open orders, history, and request orders from customer as needed to ensure consistent order flow

  • Assist Credit Dept. with collection efforts

  • Support Sales with the preparation of quotations for non-standardized products

  • Quotations follow-up as needed

  • Keep databases (orders and quotations), SAP customer information up-to-date

  • Set up new customer accounts, material numbers in SAP

  • Research and resolves non-routine and difficult customer inquiries and complaints

  • RMA/Claim handling, obtain approvals, enter in SAP, monitor progress thru to credit memo

  • Have knowledge and understanding of the current processes and systems and provide service to internal and external customers

  • Interface between customers, Sales and Production

  • Identify and analyze patterns to improve inefficiencies and customer satisfaction

  • Work closely with Supply Chain and Production to resolve problems, obtain current and accurate information, provide assistance as needed

  • Participate on cross functional teams, such as Lean or Kaizen, as needed to assist in process improvement efforts

Basic Qualifications:

  • Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of three (3) years of customer service experience in a manufacturing, private, public, government or military environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with manufacturing, supply chain and/or logistics

  • SAP or similar ERP system

  • Basic to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word

Location: Irvine, CA
