Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis process.
1 Prepares the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
2 Monitors the donor and the pheresis process, responds to specific alarms or signals that may occur during the process.
3 Disconnects the donor when the process is complete.
4 Maintains alertness and awareness to any reaction donor may have during or after the pheresis process and notifies appropriate staff.
5 Uses Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents that occur during the pheresis process, such as machine alerts and alarms, volume variances and donor adverse events.
6 Uses PDA to link equipment and soft goods used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor.
7 Alerts Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
8 Ensures the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
9 Understands the policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.
10 Maintains clean efficient work environment, and ensures sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed. Follows all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures. Promotes safety in all actions.
11 Maintains confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information.
12 May be cross-trained in other areas to meet the needs of the business.
13 Bilingual skills may be required, at the discretion of the organization, to meet the needs of the business.
14 Perform job-related duties as assigned.


  • High school diploma or equivalent required


  • Minimum of three (3) months' work experience, preferably in medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Must be able to perform basic math calculations

  • Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.

  • Occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of time

  • Occasionally be required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds

  • Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions

  • Frequently exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures and to blood borne pathogens

  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas

  • Required to work overtime and extended hours to support center operational needs

The position of Teacher Assistant/Job Coach contributes to the achievement of this mission by: * Supporting the safety and welfare of all students * Carrying out the lesson plans and activities provided by the Teacher of the Deaf or Work Experience Teacher in leading small group and 1:1 tutoring. * Assisting with classroom management * Assisting with special health care needs of students * Supervising students in a variety of educational settings * Facilitating a supportive learning environment for students along with other agency staff * Serving as a role model for the students CDHL/WSD is currently recruiting to fill 3 full time Instruction and Classroom Support Technician (aka Teacher Assistant) positions. Teacher Assistants are not scheduled to work during school closure times of year. Duties Duty: Instruction Assistance Provides instruction and supervision of students in various educational settings including classroom, job environments and off-campus settings (field trip locations). Tasks include: * Works directly with students to carry out lesson plans and activities * Modifies instruction to meet the individual learning needs of students, to include adapting language, assisting with reading for comprehension; providing students with choices to ensure engagement and comprehension * Supervises and corrects student behavior per students individual behavioral plans * Administers tests, quizzes and assists with various assessments * Participates in various meetings to advocate and report on student development and assists academic leadership by providing input for student learning and overall wellness needs. Duty: Job Coaching Provides support to students for vocational training and career exploration. Tasks include: * Travels to and shadows students on vocational training worksites * Modifies vocational training instruction to meet the individual learning needs of students, to include adapting language, assisting with reading for comprehension, providing students with supports to ensure engagement and comprehension * Works directly with vocational worksite leaders (employers) to provide information about individual student learning needs, deaf culture and any other information necessary to maximize the student's learning opportunity * Supervises and corrects student behavior per student individual behavioral plan with explanation of possible consequences of behavior in a work setting * Reports and provides feedback of student progress and assists with the modifications to students individual work experience/lesson plan Duty: Role Modeling Provides a positive learning experience for students through professional action and behavior Tasks include: * Provides instruction to students by demonstrating positive and professional interactions with others * Maintains positive relationships with students by fostering for an environment of openness and honesty Duty: Reporting and Communication Provides a safe environment for students by communicating concerns or information pertaining to student wellness, safety and learning needs Tasks include: * Acts as a mandated reporter, committed to reporting any concern of neglect or abuse of students to the appropriate authority * Participates in student learning and development by reporting and communicating any relevant information regarding individual student needs * Participates as an active participant on various teams and committees related to student development and learning Duty: Other duties as assigned.
