The Customer Service Associate (CSA) works in support of the store management team to facilitate the completion of all store level tasks and performs a variety of tasks related to different areas of the store including food preparation, cash register duties, customer service, general housekeeping and other related functions. The CSA ensures an exceptional customer experience that supports our vision to become "fast casual to go with world class convenience".

Principal Duties:

  • Greet customers and provide an enjoyable shopping experience for all customers. Respond to customer requests in a timely manner. Utilize the GREAT customer service model to ensure customer engagement.

  • Support and follow all safety and security initiatives.

  • Ensure the proper execution of assigned foodservice programs and procedures.

  • Operate the point of sale pursuant to corporate standards; maintain proper cash levels.

  • Adhere to the execution of established safety, security, quality and store operations policies, procedures and practices.

  • Ensure the proper execution of all assigned store level marketing programs.

  • Complete all store housekeeping functions (i.e., cleaning, dusting, sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, etc.).

  • Replenish products and supplies to ensure in stock conditions at all times.

  • Communicate with the management team regarding customer requests and vendor-related concerns.

  • Check in external and internal vendors according to corporate procedures.

  • Complete other tasks as assigned by store management.

  • Represent the Wawa brand by exemplifying Wawa Core Values.

To perform the essential functions of a Customer Service Associate, the associate must perform all duties listed below:

Cash Register Area

  • Operate the cash register, scan items, bag merchandise and make/provide change for purchases.

  • Comply with federal and state laws by requesting personal identification from customers who are purchasing tobacco and/or alcohol.

  • Maintain proper cash levels in register drawer.

  • Stock and refill register area inventory.

  • Greet customers and provide an enjoyable shopping experience for all customers. Respond to customer requests in a timely manner.

  • Perform the following physical behaviors continuously throughout their shift: standing, walking, handling, reaching horizontally, reaching above the shoulder, grasping firmly and pushing buttons.

  • Perform the following physical behaviors occasionally during their shift: bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, pushing and reaching below waist.

  • Occasionally lift weights up to 20 lbs.

  • Constantly lift weights of up to 10 lbs.

  • Frequently carry weights of up to 10 lbs within a small area.

Coffee Area

  • Work in the coffee area and observe coffee thermals to determine need for refills.

  • Fill coffee basket with filter and coffee grinds; brew coffee.

  • Carry coffee thermals from brewing area to coffee station as needed.

  • Stock cups, lids, straws, coffee mixers and milk/cream on coffee island.

  • Fill and maintain cappuccino machine.

  • Keep entire coffee area clean.

  • Perform the following physical behaviors continuously throughout their shift: walking, standing, handling, reaching horizontally, reaching above the shoulder, and grasping firmly.

  • Perform the following physical behaviors frequently during their shift: bending, stooping, squatting, pushing coffee cart.

  • Perform the following physical behaviors occasionally during their shift: climbing step ladder in stock.

  • Frequently lift up to 18 lbs

  • Occasionally carry up to 20 lbs., 30-40 feet.

  • Frequently carry minimum weights.

  • Work safely with equipment that can create and hold very high temperatures using appropriate personal protective equipment.

Other Job Duties

  • Retrieve cardboard boxes of coffee bags from stock room and carries to coffee station.

  • Use sharp appliance to open seal on taped cardboard boxes.

  • Use cutter to rip open coffee bags.

  • Take out trash.

Work Oven Station

  • Refill all food station items, including cheeses, meats, bagels, muffins, etc.

  • Assemble food product and place items on a tray.

  • Place food product in a pre-heated oven; remove food product when finished and build to completion.

  • Place food product in appropriate container and bring completed product to register station under warmers.

  • Follow proper coding procedures. Check expiration codes and inspect all items once during shift. Pull expired items, document and discard.

  • Keep work oven area stocked by moving product from freezer and/or cold box to the work station.

  • Perform the following physical behaviors continuously throughout their shift: walking, standing, handling, reaching horizontally, reaching above shoulder and grasping firmly.

  • Perform the following physical behaviors frequently during their shift: pushing buttons.

  • Perform the following physical behaviors occasionally during their shift: bending, stooping, squatting, climbing and balancing on step ladder and reaching below the waist.

  • Constantly lift weights up to 10 lbs.

  • Frequently lift weights of up to 12.5 lbs.

  • Frequently carry weights of up 12.5 lbs within a 40 ft distance.

  • Work safely with equipment that can create and hold very high temperatures using appropriate personal protective equipment.

Other Job Duties

  • Retrieve boxes of materials from stock room.

Food Service

Essential Job Duties

  • Follow proper coding procedures. Check expiration codes and inspect all items once during shift. Pull expired items, document and discard.

  • Inspect all food items in deli to ensure the proper temperature and freshness. Maintain the quality of all food items.

  • Adhere to all Wawa safety standards.

  • Check computer for orders and begin filling by making food according to customer specifications and requests.

  • Wrap and ladle food orders. Hand orders to customers for purchase at register.

  • Work with a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment including knives, ovens, steam tables, etc.

  • Retrieve perishable items from refrigerator/freezer for replenishment and stocking.

  • Perform general housekeeping, including dish washing and sweeping, etc.

  • Perform the following physical behaviors continuously throughout their shift: walking, standing, handling, reaching horizontally, grasping firmly and pushing buttons.

  • Perform the following physical behaviors frequently during their shift: bending stooping, squatting, pulling drawers and reaching below the waist.

  • Perform the following physical behaviors occasionally during their shift: climbing and balancing on step ladder, crouching, kneeling, pushing and reaching above the shoulder

  • Occasionally lift weights up to 35 lbs.

  • Continuously lift weights of up to 10 lbs.

  • Occasionally carry weights of up 35 lbs within a 40 ft distance.

  • Work safely with equipment that can create and hold very high temperatures using appropriate personal protective equipment.

Other Job Duties

  • Retrieve items from back stock room, carrying out to main floor.

  • Clean spills.

Additional Essential Job Duties

  • Complete indoor housekeeping functions including cleaning, dusting, mopping and emptying trash in all areas of the store. Work with a variety of cleaning supplies and chemicals. Some housekeeping functions will require the use of a ladder.

  • Complete outdoor housekeeping functions including cleaning, power washing, sweeping, picking up and emptying trash,and keeping sidewalks/parking lot safe. Work with a variety of cleaning supplies and chemicals, salt, spill absorbents, etc.

  • Stock shelves with products and supplies to ensure in stock conditions at all times including dry storage, deli area, refrigerated/freezer items and grocery items.

  • Work in cold box and/or freezer for extended periods of time in temperatures around or below freezing. Stack, lift, move, and empty filled crates. Use a ladder when stocking higher shelves.

  • Check expiration codes and inspect all items once during shift. Properly rotate product, pull expired items, document and discard.

  • Use a handheld device to record and use inventory. Include checking in external and internal vendors according to corporate procedures.

  • Responsible for taking out trash. Operate trash and/or cardboard compactor.

  • Stocking and cleaning the beverage area.

  • Must be able to adapt to abrupt temperature changes when moving from one environment to another.

  • Follow all Wawa safety and security initiatives.

  • Follow all company policies and procedures as outlined in Wawa's Policy Manual, training materials and other publications.

  • Provide a pleasant shopping experience for all customers and respond to customer requests in a timely fashion.

  • Communicate with store manager regarding customer requests and vendor-related concerns.

  • Must be able to perform other duties as assigned by store management.

  • Lead by example by acting safely at all times and prevent others around you from acting in an unsafe manner.

  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment as required.

  • Follow all current safety standards.

  • Ensure safe working conditions by maintaining a clean, organized store in accordance to standards.

Other Job Duties for all Fuel Stores outside of NJ

  • Perform a daily check by manually inspecting of nozzles, hoses, vapor recovery, spill bucket and other components in the fuel court to ensure safe working conditions. Log information.

  • Perform a weekly test of pumps to ensure proper fuel flow. Pump gas into a container and use a stop watch simultaneously to calculate the speed of flow.

  • Perform a weekly check of the hazardous waste drum to ensure proper conditions. Place phone call for replacement of hazardous waste drum as needed. Log information.

  • Wipe down the fuel area (pumps, trash, valets) with cleaning chemicals. Restock all fuel area supplies and products.

  • Replace receipt paper and ensure that credit card payment area has not been tampered with. Log the credit card check daily via computer.

  • Inspect and wipe down the air pump with cleaning chemicals.

  • Maintain the Fuel and Hazmat closet.

  • Clear oil and gas spills in accordance with all safety standards. Properly dispose of hazardous material and document clean up in gasoline compliance binder when applicable.

The Product Director is a key role in this mission and is accountable for increasing value, improving flow and enhancing quality for their respective product group, in alignment with the R&D strategy, and across different R&D lines and departments. The Product Director has end-to-end accountability for the products within their product group and manages the product lifecycle. The Product Director will maintain 3-year product roadmaps that align to the R&D strategy and are based on a deep understanding of the end-user needs and business processes. The Product Director will manage a persistent DevOps team and will be responsible for Agile ways of working including reviewing and managing the product backlog, estimating value and prioritizing delivery for the products in their domain. Specifically, the Product Director for Intelligent Automation & Analytics will lead a world class automation capability that leverages stable tools such as scripts and robotic process automation as well as emerging machine learning algorithms and artificial intelligence to drive reduced human work effort. The role will partner with Data and Computational Sciences to develop and drive an assessment methodology across R&D to determine which automation opportunities to prioritize and recommend how to best support them. It is likely that four main criteria will come into play in the assessment methodology: 1. Readiness of the process inputs, steps, and outputs – Readiness is typically high when the process is stable, well understood, and has repeatable elements. 2. Complexity of the data types and integration required to support business need and whether typical human effort would be sufficient to consistently achieve the necessary outcome. 3. Business impact achievable by the automation opportunity including the degree and location of savings and translation into cycle time improvements, cost savings, cost avoidance, and other levers. 4. Total costs required to achieve the benefits. The role will partner with other Product Directors, the Emerging Technology lead, Machine Learning leads inside Data and Computational Sciences, and business representatives throughout R&D to select and implement fit-for-purpose tools to achieve the business benefits enabled by prioritized automation opportunities. The role will be accountable for managing the portfolio of projects and tools required for building, testing, and deploying automations. Additionally, the role will be accountable for determining the best model for ongoing support, maintenance, and eventual retirement of the automations that have reached their end of life, including partnering with other Product Directors and the Established Products lead to make that determination. The role will partner with the Data Quality & Engineering Product Director to apply any criteria set to ensure that automations impact R&D data and insight generation accurately and with appropriate context, secured in a way that facilitates search and aggregation, and facilitates re-use. The role will partner with Quality Assurance throughout R&D and GSK to apply validation requirements and ensure ongoing audit- and inspection-readiness of automation tools as applied to GxP systems. This role will develop depth of expertise and capability within R&D Tech to execute the automation agenda and to be a trusted and credible partner to R&D in applying intelligent automation in responsible and impactful ways. This role will be a thought leader in the use of data/process standards and machine-assisted ways of working. Key Responsibilities: * Strategy: Contribute to the End-to-end R&D Data Strategy in collaboration with R&D data domain owners, and R&D Tech solution leads and product owners.
