POSITION INFORMATION


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for assisting customers with travel needs such as answering inquiries, ticketing, checking-in passengers, and boarding flights in a fast-paced environment

  • Sell tickets and ensure cabin accommodations

  • Perform computer and paperwork tasks

  • Evaluate and prepare flights by arranging seat assignments and load, coordinate special meals, and upgrades

  • Perform boarding and gate duties, such as checking flight tickets, assisting and directing passengers, making announcements, checking aircraft, and confirming cabin security

  • Processing and securing passenger luggage

  • May be assigned to perform duties in varying capacities, at the direction of management to ensure complete customer satisfaction

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Embody the Alaska Spirit and conduct oneself with Professionalism, Integrity, Resourcefulness, and Caring

HOURS

  • The hours of operation are 4AM - 10:30PM, seven days per week.

  • This position is part-time with 20-30 scheduled hours per week.

  • Although work schedules may change week to week, agents will receive at least 2 weeks notice of their schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

  • Two years of customer service or community service experience required

  • Possess excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)

  • Possess exceptional interpersonal skills

  • Type at least 25 WPM required

  • Ability to consistently lift 50 pounds required

  • Flexible to work varied shifts, weekends, holidays required

  • Able to participate in paid training required

  • Able to accept a starting pay of $12.65 per hour (may vary depending on location) required

  • Able to learn and operate a computerized reservation system

  • Able to adapt to performing work according to set procedures

  • Able to anticipate needs of others in a fast paced environment

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: In this role, Ready Reserve Customer Service Agents serve our customers in both the ticketing and gate areas at airport locations. Our professionals serving as a ticket agent are the first to greet our customers and guide and assist them with the ticketing and baggage check-in process. The ticketing process requires the use of computers and agents are responsible for all aspects of the ticketing process - selling, printing, reissue. In addition, a ticket agent is also responsible for managing the check-in process - ensuring our customers have the proper documentation for travel, properly tagging baggage and performing lifting tasks that involve transferring baggage from scales to conveyor belts. Several other lifting tasks will involve handling items as low as floor level and as high as waist level. This job requires frequently lifting bags or items weighing up to 50 pounds. This job also requires occasionally lifting bags or items weighing between 50 and 70 pounds. Our professionals serving as gate agents help our customers with routing, trip planning and gate boarding. The gate agent position requires the use of computers and assists our customers with seat availability, gate announcements with regard to the boarding process, flight status, checking and handling baggage, managing and initiating the boarding process. Gate agents are also required to operate jet ways to place them in position prior to aircraft arrival and lifting, opening, closing, and securing aircraft doors. All customer service agents are required to work consistently in public areas surrounding by other people and be able to understand and respond to a variety of questions about travel information. This position requires standing for long periods of time. Additionally, you may be responsible for escorting unaccompanied minors and disabled passengers throughout the airport. As a Ready Reserve Customer Service Agent of Delta Air Lines, you will work between 600 and 1,400 hours per year.
