Customer Provided Equipment (CPE) Systems Engineer

Job Description:

Identify appropriate Customer Equipment for Advanced Networking systems.
Conduct trade studies to trade vendors and base technologies (e.g., dedicated hardware v. white box/NFV implementations)
Identify tool requirements required for effectively operating an IP/SDN-based Network Design, automated provisioning, event correlation and presentation
Engage with customer engineering, operations, and management personnel to define and document the customers CONOPS and requirements.
Serve as a technical interface between Harris and the customers engineering staffs.
Decompose requirements and allocating them to different subsystems or cross-functional domains
Lead design review efforts and hold design reviews with internal and/or external stakeholders, and ensure design reviews are planned, executed, and action items closed.
Lead efforts to follow systems engineering processes throughout the lifecycle of the product or service

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (Submission Summary)
1.Bachelors degree or equivalent (preferably in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Networking, Information Technology or a related field)

2.A minimum of 6 years of applicable experience.

3.Some experience and domain knowledge of L1 through L4 of the OSI Model.

4.Some experience working with L2 and L3 protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, IBGP, EBGP, IS-IS, and MPLS.

5.Some experience working with Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and Network Management System (NMS) applications used to monitor networked devices.

6.Some experience working with Long Term Evolution (LTE), VPN, and DMVPN technologies.

  • Preferred

7.Experience working in an Operations Call Center or Data Center

  • Preferred

8.Prior experience required in maintaining high service levels in a demanding customer support services environment

9.CCENT, CCNA, or CCNP preferred.

  1. Team-player, able to work in a large program environment and have good communications skills.

  1. Strong experience in the Systems Engineering Lifecycle.

Job Summary The CNS Traffic Surveillance Department in Melbourne, Florida is seeking to fill a System Engineering / Project Engineering Position. This is a mid-level engineering position within the TCAS Products Group. The primary responsibility for this position will be to support the TCAS Products team in the development of new products for the Next Generation Air Transportation System. The engineer who fills this position must have strong design and problem solving skills for hardware and software as well as experience in project estimation, planning and control. This position will utilize project tracking and staffing tools. In addition, the engineer who fills this position will also plan projects in order to determine the best approach to be taken to accomplish the project goals, demonstrate a high level of professional competence and knowledge, and must have knowledge of principles and techniques commonly used in system development and qualification. Job Responsibilities * Knowledge of products and systems in an avionics area (e.g. TCAS Products). Utilize and set expectations for the application of internal processes, methods and tools for systems development and documentation efforts. * Mentors product development teams in the utilization of the appropriate RC processes and tools during product development, thus increasing product quality and improving customer satisfaction. * Generate project estimates, schedules and tracking metrics. * Contribute to systems engineering requirements capture, analysis, decomposition and allocation in the area of domain expertise. * Assure that development products are designed to meet the applicable RCI, Business Unit, and Customer/Project requirements. * Lead cross-functional team efforts in integration, pre- qualification and qualification for products and sub-systems of moderate to high complexity. * Report status relating to technical performance, cost, schedule and risk for assigned project work to internal and external customers. * Review metrics and defect trends, identify systemic root causes and process improvements and recommend new approaches, tools and techniques that drive continuous improvement in development processes.
