Customer Logistics Intern

The Corporate Internship at Niagara is unique in that interns work directly on high impact projects within one of our corporate departments. Interns will work in a fast-paced, innovative environment where they will be asked to be a key part of our operations. During this 10-week internship, participants are encouraged to think outside the box and use a continuous improvement mindset to approach projects and come up with solutions. Interns will gain hands on experience in work related to their field of study.

Interns will work in one of the following departments:

  • IT (Infrastructure, Applications, and Help Desk)

  • Supply Chain

  • Sourcing/Procurement

  • Finance/Accounting

  • Marketing

  • Business Development

  • Corporate Manufacturing

  • Engineering Services

  • Packaging
  • R&D

  • Human Resources

  • Product Lifecycle Management

  • PLM

The Customer Logistics Intern will land in one of the following areas and perform projects and day to day operations. Below are a few ideas on what to expect:

  • Customer Service

  • Learn how to communicate with customers and carriers

  • Jump into a customer service role

  • Inventory Management, Operations work with scheduling and tracking

  • Carrier Relations

  • Analyze transportation routes

  • Customer ordering optimization

  • Use proprietary software to plot direct to store routes for optimal customer success

  • Transportation Operations

  • Work with IT on transportation software utilization and potential improvements

  • Complete major analytical project to help improve our network logistics

  • Internal Logistics

  • Plan shipments

  • Perform system functions in OTM

  • Recover missed/failed shipments

  • Negotiate ad hoc rates

  • Secure carrier capacity for rush and non-rush shipments

  • Track shipments & recover

Detailed Description

  • Work cross-functionally to complete high impact projects

  • Learn about the manufacturing industry and order to cash process

  • Assist with research on new and existing projects

  • Gain exposure to newest technology and software

  • Receive intellectual and creative opportunities to tackle a problem and develop your own proposed solution

  • Support major decision making

  • Attend department meetings and action plan based on feedback

  • Learn to collaborate and communicate across all levels of the organization

  • Create a presentation on your internship experience, projects, and outcomes and present to department leadership

  • Minimum Required: Rising Senior pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Business or Supply Chain or Industrial Systems Engineering.

  • Preferred: Rising Senior pursuing Master's Degree in Business or Supply Chain or Industrial Systems Engineering.

  • Note: If you are a rising Sophomore or Junior, you are eligible for our "Student Associate" positions
