The Manager, Category Insights is responsible for driving category management principles with the Snyder's-Lance customer base through the application of strong data analytics and insights. Provides Retail Customers with compelling presentations and other information in support of sales growth and to become their category trusted advisor. This position provides the link between corporate initiatives in category management and the customer team. Participates in customer meetings as an "expert" in the field of category development.
Essential Job Duties
Provides expertise in category management best practices for Snyder's-Lance retailers and sales teams.
Performs category and channel analysis for retail customers in an extremely fast paced environment.
Assists in developing business plans for achieving category volume, margin contribution, market share and space targets.
Analyzes syndicated data in support of developing sales opportunities.
Prepares and presents internal and syndicated customer performance reviews.
Participates in presentations to customer as credible expert in category management practices.
Stays abreast of consumer trends in a widely diverse set of retail channels.
Provides actionable shopper and business insights to customer and Snyder's-Lance sales teams.
Performs competitive analyses by category, brand and package to identify trends, opportunities and challenges to core business areas.
Develops space and assortment recommendations that maximize category performance and supports sales initiatives.
Analyzes and evaluates demographic and shopper purchasing behavior in individual account/categories.
Analyzes complex metrics and analytics to provide insight to consumer dynamics, supporting aggressive growth plans.
Builds and delivers actionable insights to drive improved return on investment with promotional and pricing dynamics.
Performs other duties as assigned due to business needs or special circumstances.
Scope of Responsibility
Work is done independently with minimal supervision. This role does not have supervisory or budgetary responsibility.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Strong knowledge of syndicated and shopper data required.
Shopper insights analysis knowledge.
Excellent presentation skills with prior experience with customer presentations.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Knowledge of Database software; Manufacturing software, Project Management software; Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint, IRI Syndicated Data and ACNielsen.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; and 4 years CPG experience and/or training and previous space management analytics experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Travel Required (Indicate type of travel and % of time travel is required)
Travel as needed 15-25% of the time.
