You will support our growth and the delivery of business results by providing customer business intelligence to a cross functional customer team. Job scope includes delivering weekly and adhoc data reporting; supplemented with fact-based insights and recommendations from a variety of data resources such as Retail Link, Nielsen, Numerator and APT. Also, you will have responsibility for integrating the business intelligence and analysis into fact based selling stories for internal business partners and customer facing presentations.

How you will contribute

You will:

  • Be responsible for retailer data mining and creation of concise business updates, covering weekly business results and adhoc requests on specific business questions

  • Leverage existing reporting platforms and business intelligence tools; to create data visualization for fact-based story telling

  • Leverage syndicated scan data, panel data, and competitive promotional data to supplement retailer data to create a complete picture of the business drivers and trends

  • Leverage advanced test and learn methodology to find directional business trends and to project business trends, using non-traditional data sources

  • Prepare business summaries to present business trends and drivers to key stakeholders, including executive leadership, sales and shopper marketing leads, and other cross functional business partners

  • Expertise with creating effective data visualization that "tells the story"

  • Experience with synthesizing syndicated scan data, panel data, and competitive ads data (print and digital) for use with fact-based story telling

  • High proficiency leveraging office business tools and business reporting tools; quickly and accurately manipulating large data sets

  • High proficiency with data visualization tools (Excel/PowerPoint/Tableau)

  • Experience effectively communicating business trends (verbally and written summaries)

  • Experience presenting concise and actionable summaries to internal/external business stakeholders

  • Able to partner well with sales (DSD and Account Managers), shopper marketing, logistics/planning, and external third-party service providers

More about this role

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of category management, and/or shopper insights experience required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.

  • Must have excellent analytical, presentation and oral/written communication skills.

Extensive experience utilizing POS and Syndicated data (e.g. Retail Link, Nielsen, IRI, Panel).

  • Analytical aptitude including ability to develop sound insights across multiple data sources.

  • Strong follow-through and prioritization skills. Initiative, self-motivation and a strong sense of urgency are essential.

  • Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks/projects while delivering results and meeting deadlines.

  • Travel will be 10% or less.

You will function as a senior level Business Insights professional with the primary responsibility to provide implementation of Category Management and other advanced marketing initiatives within a designated department to include: Grocery, Non-Grocery, Perishable and/or HBC for an entire region, specific principal, or specific customer. Responsibilities Essential Functions of this Position (list in order of most important to least important): * Manage and direct the activities of a major line or group of lines as it relates to all category development and Marketing initiatives for a given branch or region. * Represent the Business Insights Department in new principal interviews or business reviews by being able to present the capabilities of the entire department. Work under the direction of senior Business Insights management. * Analyze complex data sets and integrate all sales technology tools in order to create Marketing presentations for principals represented by Acosta across the region. * Establish a leadership position with the Category Managers at all key customers in the market and assist them in their category management process. * Coordinate efforts with the local branch Category Analysts to manage the completion of all base presentations, in order to meet the time frames and needs of each local office within the region. * Create all major Marketing presentations within designated department(s) including account and principal business reviews, new item introductions, category reviews, new principal reviews, etc. for use within the region. * Initiate and participate with Business Managers and principals in the design, implementation and evaluation of local Marketing events. * Integrate Spectra demographics information into all reviews and/or presentations where applicable. * Utilize and understand IRI and ACNielsen syndicated scanning data and systems used to generate the information for category reviews. * Routinely visit customers in the market with Business Managers. Assist in conducting store audits to view merchandising and inventory requirements in assigned categories. * Miscellaneous duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Education Requirements: * High School Diploma/GED * Bachelor of Arts Degree Experience Requirement: * Must have a bachelor's degree and 4-6 years experience in marketing, sales and/or comparable background from industry sources. Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements (i.e. "plan-a-gram" software expertise, presentation skills): * Must have prior work experience in data analysis and systems and demonstrate a fundamental knowledge of the technology involved to operate and maintain these systems. * Must have a high degree of proficiency in Windows, and related software applications including spreadsheets, word processing, graphics, e-mail, fax, database management, ACNielsen Workstation, NITRO and IRI Data Server. * Must be able to effectively communicate with others. Must be able to operate a calculator, computer, printer, fax machine, telephone and copy machine. * Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
