Position Summary:

Provide excellent customer service by acknowledging customers as they enter and exit the store, answering questions and assisting with deactivation of electronic article surveillance devices. Additionally, perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Model "Customer 1st" behavior; deliver and encourage other associates to deliver excellent customer service

  • Acknowledge customers in a friendly manner as they enter and exit the store

  • Maneuver in the store's entry and exit areas

  • Politely ask customers to see their receipt for non-bagged items and direct customers to registers when non-bagged items are observed

  • Respond to activations of Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) systems

  • Assist customers with deactivation of EAS devices

  • Answer customer questions concerning the location of items or sections within the store

  • Direct communication with the district Asset Protection (AP) manager/district AP specialists to report suspicious behavior

  • Report incidents on the Kroger Loss Prevention Monitoring System (KLPMS)

  • Review closed-circuit television (CCTV) and report any incidents to district AP manager

  • Perform random associate parcel/receipt check

  • Assist customers with bascarts that may lock up with Purcheck

  • Report safety concerns to supervisor

  • Comply with corporate policies and promote/follow company initiatives

  • Maintain flexibility to work any shift

  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Minimum Position Qualifications/Education:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or combination of relevant education and experience

  • Minimum 18 years of age

  • Ability to pass drug test

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to handle sensitive information while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality

  • Accuracy/attention to detail

  • Ability to work within rigid timeframes and meet resolute deadlines

Desired Previous Job Experience:

  • Knowledge of Kroger policies, procedures, and organizational structure

  • Ability to speak a second language
