Constructs electronic equipment by laying out, assembling wiring, electrical, mechanical components, working from blue prints, sketches and schematic diagrams; uses necessary equipment for identification purposes (marking); follows oral or written instructions and determines order of fabrication and assembly work; may fabricate or alter mechanical parts such as brackets, latches and wedges using general purpose machine tools and equipment, such as lathes, grinders, drill presses, band saw, hand brake, punch press, spot welder and gas torch, using tolerances no finer than .005 overall; assembles parts and components using hand tools and following schematics or blue prints; fabricates cables, harnesses and fiber optics as necessary according to schematic diagrams; connects circuit elements using mechanical connectors or solders joints, using soldering iron; completes assembly by dressing wires and solder joints, tightening nuts and adjusting location of components as necessary; makes continuity check of wiring and cable assemblies, fastens chassis in cabinet or rack as completed.
When job duties necessitate climbing to heights in excess of twenty-five (25) feet above the roof or ground surface, employees shall receive an appropriate rate per hour (based on the Climbing Pay Letter of Agreement) above their own rate for hours of work falling within this category.
This requires US Citizenship.
Requires knowledge of electronic equipment assembly, basic machine and calibrated tool operation and a working knowledge of applicable electronic theory. Successful candidate will be required to complete and pass a structured interview that will test for skill and knowledge of industry standards and drawings.
Candidate must be able to obtain an interim secret clearance prior to starting this position. This requires US Citizenship.
