ESSENCE OF THE ROLE
The Custom Mechanical Drafter is primarily responsible for creating technical drawings based on given specifications for mechanical parts and assemblies using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment. Will create and modify 3D designers as needed.

Complete layouts, shop drawings, assign part numbers; create bills of material, complete routings, cost estimates, and installation sheets for custom products so manufacturing can be completed in a timely manner.
Completed drawings with safety and compliance codes in mind.
Creates and edits/updates BOM in ERP system.
Develop detailed designs and specifications for mechanical parts and assemblies using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
Interfaces with suppliers, marketing, engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing to assure designs meet objectives for quality, performance, schedule, costs and manufacturability (DFMA).
Confers with customer to identify the root cause of problems that develops with design and implement corrective actions through ECO's.
Support planning and builds of custom and/or prototype assemblies.
Support product testing as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two year college or technical school in mechanical drafting.
Entry level up to 5 year work experience as a Mechanical Designer/Drafter using 3D CAD (Solidworks and AutoCAD preferred).
Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel, Lotus Notes, ERP system and PDM Software.
Able to multi-task, and pay attention to detail and accuracy.
Able to make sound and timely decisions.
