Job Description:

Member of the Custom Lending team which provides credit expertise for Financial Advisors in the UHNW market delivering complex lending solutions. Works with the senior members of the team and Merrill Lynch Private Banking Investment Group (PBIG) and Advisory to grow Custom Lending revenue through marketing efforts and deal support/management. Position will be responsible for the loan renewal process and portfolio servicing.

The Custom Credit Executive is a product advocate for credit in a large geographic region. Originates sound new business through Financial Advisors. Provides credit direction, expertise, and approval for strategically important clients. Leads credit product to targets. Delivers credit strategy for the region to clients. Understands market differences within region and coordinates best practices in terms of delivering thoughtful credit solutions. Works closely with clients and Advisors to define and deliver the best alternatives. Critical link to centralized underwriting and approval process. Accountable to asset quality and financial plan for the region.

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with cash flow credit skills and related market influences (profiling, structuring, underwriting, pricing, delivery)

  • 10 plus years of commercial credit or wealth management credit experience or a combination of lending and credit experience

  • Prior experience required with a financial institution focusing on sales, preferably in the high net worth space

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to influence others while building strong partnerships\

  • Commercial Credit training strongly preferred

  • Series 7 and 63 or 66 required for this role

  • Candidates may apply without licenses, but must achieve all required licenses within 120 days of accepting the position

Job Summary: Reporting to the Credit Manager, the Small Business Administration Credit Executive (SBA CE) underwrites credit applications supporting Union Bank's SBA Department. The incumbent works closely with SBA Credit Managers to structure transactions and assess risks along with SBA Business Development Officers. This role plays an integral role in ensuring data integrity of the portfolio, establishing appropriate risk, and ensuring all SBA Standard Operating Policies Procedures (SOP) eligibility and other guidelines are satisfied. Management or Supervision: No Major Responsibilities: * Review new loan package requests for completeness, appropriate loan structure, and SBA eligibility. * Provide recommendations for alternate loan structures as appropriate. * Review all regulatory requirements as pertaining to Reg B, HMDA, FACTA, Fair Lending, Bank Secrecy, Anti-money Laundering, etc. * Analyze and underwrite SBA loans according to Bank credit policy and procedures and in compliance with SBA SOP requirements. * Analysis includes cash flow, balance sheet, proforma, RMA, collateral, guarantor(s), and any other pertinent facts. Meet all service level agreements for turnaround times. Pass all QC reviews with no material or significant findings. Maintain currency on changes to SBA SOP requirements and internal Bank policies and procedures. Satisfactory results of internal and external examinations both SBA and general Bank related to SBA originations. Qualifications Education, Licensure, Year of Experience (and type of work experience): * Typically requires a BA or BS degree. 5+ years of SBA credit experience. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Strong verbal and written skills. * Excellent credit skills. * Effective interpersonal skills. * Excellent time management skills. * Thorough understanding of SBA SOP requirements, including underwriting and eligibility requirements of most SBA loan types including: Commercial real estate purchase and refinance, business acquisition, CAPLines, Express, and other C&I loans.
