Custodians work in various settings and are responsible for the general upkeep of a building. They are key members of the custodial team who work collaboratively with Custodial Team leads to provide quality custodial services to our clients.

Please note that 75% of the labor hours for our contracts are reserved for individuals with documented significant disabilities. 1.Clean restroom, toilets, sinks floors, urinals, and mirrors, fixtures, using toilet brush, sponge, and disinfectants and cleaning solutions.

2.Spot clean doors, partitions, walls, windows and all horizontal surfaces.

3.Restock paper supplies and empty trash to designated location.

4.Clean floors. If carpeted, vacuum daily and shampoo as specified in contract. Other surfaces sweep and mop daily, strip, wax, and buff as specified in contract.

5.Comply with all safety rules, standards, and regulations.

6.Mix chemical solutions in safe and efficient manner.

7.Display positive attitude and pride in correct, representing the organization in a positive manner.

8.Display the highest ethical standards when making decisions related to our people and business.

9.Participate in all required meetings.

10. Adhere to assigned work schedule.

11. Demonstrate ethics and complies with Corporate Compliance Program.

12. Meet Yearly Mandatory Training requirements for this position.

1.Support service recipients, supervisors and Custodial Team Leads at assigned contract sites.


This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

1.One to three months previous cleaning or related experience. Approved custodial training program may substitute for experience.

2.Ability to lift fifty pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation.

3.Ability to pass a criminal background check (subject to requirements of assigned site client).

4.Depending on service contract, may require documentation of a disability.

5.Required to have a valid drivers license.

1.High School Diploma/GED.

2.One year of previous custodial experience in a federal contract or commercial cleaning site.

3.Ability to operate a variety of buffing machines.


$8-9/hour depending on experience and qualifications.

VIEW JOBS 11/15/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-13T00:00 General Description Under the supervision of the Park Superintendent and daily direction of the Lead Maintenance Supervisor, this position is responsible for performing highly complex custodial work. Work involves the cleaning and sanitation of State facilities, including, public restrooms, rental facilities and cabins. Work involves conducting inspections of buildings and equipment. Performs general custodial functions such as sweeping, mopping, dusting and cleaning windows and light fixtures. Cleans furniture, walls and floors and empties trash. Responsible for restroom maintenance, replenishing supplies and applying cleaning chemicals as appropriate. Performs minor building repairs. Performs moving of furniture and other items. Performs minor maintenance and repair work on custodial equipment. Inspects buildings for cleanliness, completed work and needed repairs. Maintains inventory records of custodial equipment, materials, and supplies. May supervise the work of others. Assists with visitor services including providing customer service and information to park visitors. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures. JOB POSTING: 19-00186 Qualification Guidelines MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: * Completion of 8th grade. Experience: * One year experience in areas such as general cleaning, housekeeping or custodial work. Licensure: * If driving is required, applicant must possess a valid State driver's license. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: * Graduation from High School or GED. Experience: * Experience working with the public; * Experience performing custodial duties in a park setting. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures; * Knowledge of inventory control principles and methods; * Knowledge of historic preservation techniques; * Knowledge of general work site safety; * Knowledge of basic mathematics; * Skill in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook; * Skill in effective verbal and written communication; * Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner; * Skill in cleaning and sanitation of bathrooms using chemicals in accordance with directions on labels; * Skill in using custodial tools and equipment; * Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with co-workers and work-related contacts; * Skill in operation of commercial washer and dryer, vacuum cleaner, carpet shampooer; * Skill in making independent, sound and timely decisions; * Ability to maintain flexibility and work with frequent interruptions and multiple changing priorities; * Ability to work effectively as a team member in a fast-paced environment; * Ability to follow park rules and regulations; * Ability to produce electronic reports; * Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting supplies and materials up to 50 lbs.; * Ability to conduct work activities in accordance with TPWD safety program. Additional Information WORKING CONDITIONS: * Required to work at a public park with overnight camping and day use; * Required to work 40 hours per week, includes various schedules with hours other than 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays; * Required to perform work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions; * Required to perform manual labor, including lifting supplies and materials up to 50 lbs.; * May be required to operate a State vehicle; * Required to travel 5% with possible overnight stays; * Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules and safety procedures; * Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
