Custodian

Summary of Job Duties:

Under Limited supervision, perform custodial duties to keep Threshold Enterprises buildings, grounds, and restrooms fully functional and clean. Reporting fixtures and systems that may require repair to lead and/or supervisor when necessary.

Specific Job Duties:

• Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, sweeping, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper, soap, and hygiene supplies.

• Emptying trash and recycling receptacles and disposing of them into their proper dumpsters and/or bins for collection contractors.

• Maintaining a neat and orderly custodians cabinet; ensures cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked.

• Performing a variety of landscaping activities (e.g., cleaning picnic areas, removing trash from receptacles, picking up trash from grounds, removing weeds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining company grounds.

• Cleaning windows and glass doors

• Assists in on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures.

• Documenting all performed tasks in their corresponding logbooks while adhering to good documentation practices.

• Assist in projects such as carpet shampooing and waxing floors.

• Work overtime as necessary.

• Perform all other duties as assigned by Threshold management.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Required:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

• Previous custodial and grounds experience preferred.

• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

• Ability to lift, pull, and push up to 50 pounds.

• Comfortable squatting, twisting, bending, and kneeling while using tools and performing custodial tasks.

• Ability to work standing for long periods of time.

• Ability to climb ladders and work from heights.

• Ability to perform tasks in inclement weather.

Skills and/or Training Desired:

• Knowledge of operating, caring for, and storing custodial equipment (e.g., carpet shampoo machine, floor buffer, etc.)

• Knowledge of stripping and waxing linoleum flooring.

• Possess working knowledge of the methods, techniques, and materials used in custodial work.
