Position Summary
To maintain a level of cleanliness that meets University standards and procedures throughout assigned facilities. This position will work on 3rd shift, 10:30 pm-7:00 am, Sunday-Thursday night.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To maintain the following areas: entry ways, hallways, stairwells, restrooms, shower areas, classrooms, emptying trash and any other areas.
Perform project carpet cleaning, hard floor refinishing, and any other projects during summer vacation or as directed by supervisor.
Perform assigned cleaning of vacated rooms or facility areas as directed.
Help maintain vehicles assigned to the department.
Help with various set-ups including Graduation, Homecoming, and other campus events.
Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
Assist other departments if needed.
Any other duty as assigned by the Manager of Building Services.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
A lifestyle in agreement with the ONU Statement of Mission, Faith, and Lifestyle Covenant.
Must be able to work alone and organize work.
Must be flexible and willing to change priorities.
Must have a valid driver's license and be able to become an approved driver through the University.
Must be able to climb ladders and operate general cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mops, brooms, and others in a safe manner.
Must be able to communicate with students, faculty and staff while completing work assignments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Custodian will primarily be assigned to one campus building for which to clean and care. However, the building services team of custodians often pitch in on special event set-up or cleaning during peak seasons anywhere on campus. Custodians must be able to handle cleaning solutions and operate the cleaning tools provided. A comfort level of lifting 50 lbs. is encouraged. The Custodian reports to the 3rd shift building services manager.
