Support Galveston County with the leadership of a custodial team of at least 10-14 custodians to address cleaning and maintenance needs for Galveston County. Manage staff to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.

Routine building checks to ensure staff completes assignments and facility needs are addressed timely. Complete assigned area cleaning. Approximately 28 locations to coordinate for cleaning and maintenance.

Job Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Building walks to ensure staff completes assignments and facility needs are addressed timely.

Perform the work assigned according to the work schedule which may include: cleaning offices, floors, window sills, windows, walls, waste baskets, furniture, bookcases and adjusting shades.

Cleaning restrooms, floors, walls, and fixtures and replenishing cabinets.

Cleaning and dusting courtrooms as scheduled.

Assist in the picking up of refuse from the grounds as required.

Maintain Custodial equipment to ensure proper operation.

Dispose of waste materials, paper and garbage daily Strip and/or scrub floors and apply finish periodically as required Buff floors as scheduled.

Have good attendance and use time productively on the job.

Keep garbage receptacles and trash barrels cleaned.

Responsible for staff evaluations

Daily communication with campus staff to ensure facility needs are met and issues are addressed.

Clean exterior windows as required.

Secure all windows and doors daily after cleaning is completed

Report conditions requiring maintenance and indications of vandalism to the Facilities Director or his designee.

Ensure staff takes breaks, lunches at designated times.

Safety Check on custodians to see if work assigned has been done properly

Send in maintenance work orders for repairs.

Generate custodial work orders daily.

Maintain an inventory and order custodial supplies

Perform emergency cleaning service as necessary

Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, neat and clean at all times

Report leaks.

Ensure storage areas and equipment is kept clean and organized.

Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor

Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, administrators and co-workers

Must be computer literate and trainable on various software systems.

Must maintain regular, punctual and reliable attendance.

Respond to emergency calls as needed

Work modified schedule as required by the needs of the County.

All other tasks as assigned by the supervisor Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities or Designee. 1. Report accidents and injuries immediately 2.

Ensure staff has proper safety equipment 3. Identify and correct unsafe conditions in work area and report conditions that are not correctable to immediate supervisor and Director of Facilities or Designee. 4. Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition 5. Train staff on chemicals, cleaning processes and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications: Education/Certification: High School Diploma or GED Valid Texas State Driver's License with acceptable driving record, CJIS compliance

Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance.

Ability to operate cleaning equipment. Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies. Experience with specialized custodial equipment.

Some computer experience is required. Effectively work with others. Ability to read/write the English language.

Being on feet for extended periods and walking long distances daily. Manage 10-16 employees or more Team Player Self-motivated
