The job of substitute custodian involves working as a custodial substitute at all sites throughout San Diego Unified School District . The number of work days allowed per fiscal year is 195. The work is often strenuous and continuous. The substitute custodian must be available to work up to 40 hours per week, and be available between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. every workday to receive assignments.

In order to work as a substitute custodian, you must have reliable transportation.

Examples of Duties

Maintain buildings and other assigned areas of a school or central office facility in a clean, sanitary and safe condition.

Minimum Qualifications

You will be required to complete a Conviction Report Form by the Human Resource Services Department when you are processed for employment. This review by the DOJ takes several days to several weeks. Unacceptable convictions will disqualify you from employment with the San Diego Unified School District, including misdemeanor or felony convictions related to sex or drug offenses.

In accordance with the Education Code (Section 45125), you are required to have a current tuberculin skin test and be fingerprinted.
