JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION:
CUSTODIAN
RESPONSIBLE TO:
CAMPUS DIRECTOR
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
CERTIFICATION:
CDL School Bus Drivers License (obtain within 90 days)
EXPERIENCE:
Experience is general custodial work in a non-domestic facility.
SKILLS:
Operation of cleaning and maintenance tools.
Ability to read/follow instructions and maintenance specifications.
Ability to use good judgment.
OTHER:
Knowledge of safety procedures and practices relating to custodial duties.
Knowledge of hazardous materials.
Knowledge of "Material Safety Data Sheet" and how to read them.
Knowledge of "Right to Know, Hazardous Communications Legislation."
Knowledge of "Bloodborne Pathogen" restrictions.
DEPENDABILITY:
Regular attendance following a designated work schedule.
Must be able to work different shifts as the job requires.
Must be able to attend meetings/conferences as scheduled by the Campus Director.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL STANDARDS:
Ability to read and comprehend operating manuals, reference materials and material safety data sheets (MSDS).
Ability to meet and confer with individuals or groups concerning technical cleaning problems.
Requires lifting, handling of parts, supplies and equipment.
Ability to work around dust, fumes and other exposures related to the job.
Not present a risk of injury to self or others while engaged in School District duties.
Must be able to operate equipment necessary to do custodial and maintenance duties.
EMOTIONAL EFFORT:
Low to moderate.
Must be able to successfully deal with changes in assignments and properly respond to complaints.

LENGTH OF CONTRACT:
12 Months
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the assigned district buildings, fixtures, furniture, and equipment in first class condition.
Work cooperatively for the Campus Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform maintenance and cleaning of all campus buildings, classrooms, and bus driving*.
Assignments include, but are not limited to:
Perform maintenance on equipment and facilities as required.
Drive the school bus or vehicles as required*.
Empty and clean all waste receptacles, pick up trash.
Sweep laboratory and shop areas as required.
Clean drinking fountain and wash basins.
Fill towel and soap dispensers as required.
Dust and/or mop as needed.
Clean windows/window sills.
Dust furniture, cabinets, and fixtures.
Clean hallways and walls.
Clean restrooms and restroom fixtures.
Replace light bulbs in overhead fixtures and other locations as necessary.
Scrub, Strip, wax, and/or buff floors as needed.
Turn off lights in unused areas.
Assist in keeping grounds maintained.
Report vandalism, damage, items needing repair, or unusual conditions to the Director.
Participate in periodic evaluations of performance.
Perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as may be required to accomplish the essential job functions as directed.
RELATIONSHIPS
INTERNAL:
Furnish support services for teachers in assigned areas to provide a pleasant clean training/working environment.
Maintain good communications and work cooperatively with other coworkers for the Campus Director.
EXTERNAL:
Maintain a good positive attitude toward patrons.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Make suggestions for improving the productivity and performance of custodial duties.
Recommend cleaning products and equipment to improve the quality of the custodial duties and to make it easier.
Perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as directed by supervisor(s) or administrator(s).
Denotes preferred certification.
