Job Summary

The primary function of the Building Services Unit is to clean, remove trash, and provide a safe and healthy environment for students, faculty, staff, administration, and the community.

Responsibilities

Maintenance

Performs custodial maintenance duties of the institution's buildings and facilities which includes the daily cleaning of restrooms, classrooms, locker-rooms, showers, office space, residential dorms and apartments, community rooms, exercise rooms, study rooms, community restrooms in the dorms and other locations occupied by people; Cleaning of hallways, stairwells, floor mats on a scheduled frequency either weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly; Wash windows, walls, trash cans, glass, and doors at height level under 10 feet or with appropriate equipment above height level; Clean facility walls, mirrors, dusting fixtures including lights from floor with extension duster, fire alarms, fire extinguishers, drinking fountains, facility signage, ceiling fans, window ledges, door knobs, and kick plates; May move office and dormitory furniture and equipment for cleaning; Daily trash and recycle collection and disposal; Routine floor care such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing, stripping and carpet cleaning with basic skill levels; Sweep outside walks that are within 10 feet of entry ways, porches, and stairways attached to facility; Attend scheduled departmental meetings and trainings; May drive a University car, truck, or golf cart as related to assigned task; Report damaged structures/equipment to supervisor.
