Reports to: Facilities Manager
Work Period: 12 month
Hours: Full-time - 40 hours
GENERAL SUMMARY: Performs custodial tasks within the guidelines of federal, state and local laws and office, division and college policies and procedures, supervisory instructions, and work orders. Reports to the facilities manager or other designated person and works with co-workers, faculty, staff, and students.
Performs custodial tasks.
Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes, buffs floors and cleans carpets.
Dusts and cleans rooms, stairwells, and kitchens.
Vacuums, empties trash, and polishes fixtures and drinking fountains.
Works as a part of a team to perform heavy cleaning of residence halls between semesters, and administrative buildings during breaks.
Serves as a resource for subordinate personnel.
Education: Ability to read and perform basic mathematics. High School diploma, trade school, or equivalent level of education preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year custodial experience preferred.
Familiarity with proper use of methods and materials in cleaning and caring for assigned buildings and areas.
Demonstrated willingness and ability to work independently and under unpleasant conditions such as in dusty and dirty areas, to adhere to standards and plans, and to maintain confidentiality.
Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, bending, crawling, walking, moving objects up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, using tools and equipment that require a high degree of manual dexterity, and ability to distinguish between shades of color. Work is performed indoors and outdoors with exposure to noise, chemicals, inclement weather, dust, dirt, grease, and machinery with moving parts requiring the use of protective devices.
