LSU Health New Orleans Division of Property and Facilities is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Custodian 1 or 2. There are multiple vacancies, hours of operation for these positions are 6:00 am - 2:30 pm.
These positions are in a Career Progression Group
As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a (Custodian 1 or 2) depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). Please refer to the 'Job Specifications' tab located at the top of the LA Careers 'Current Job Opportunities' page of the Civil Service website for specific information on salary ranges, minimum qualifications and job concepts for each level.
Starting rate of pay for a Custodian 1 is $10 and Custodian 2 is $10.70 per hour. There is also an additional $1 Longevity pay for hours worked only and $1 Shift Differential pay. Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the applicants' qualifications.

This is a Civil Service Position. This position does not require applicants to take a Civil Service test.

To perform basic manual tasks in order to maintain the cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and appearance of state buildings, facilities, institutions, etc.

Close from a Custodian Supervisor A. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
SUPERVISON EXERCISED:
None.

All state agencies.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from the Custodian 2 by the absence of experienced-level custodial tasks.EXAMPLES BELOW ARE A BRIEF SAMPLE OF COMMON DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS JOB TITLE. NOT ALL POSSIBLE TASKS ARE INCLUDED.
Cleans bathrooms, offices, hallways, and any other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing.
Empties and decontaminates trash containers; may assist in disposing of infectious waste.
Moves, rearranges, and dusts furniture and fixtures.
Learns to mix or blend cleaning solutions to proper concentrations as necessary for various tasks.
Assists in setting up tables, chairs, and other furniture for special meetings, banquets, or other occasions.
Washes blinds, windows, and walls with prescribed solutions.
Operates vacuum for cleaning carpeted areas.
Strips, decontaminates, and makes beds for patients, residents, students, etc.
Reports needs for minor building and/or equipment repairs to a higher-level custodian.
Washes, dries, folds, and issues clothing, linens, etc. as assigned.
May perform basic grounds work by picking up trash, watering plants, etc.
