Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Custodial Zone Coordinator on the Gainesville campus. The Custodial Zone Coordinator performs responsible supervisory and administrative work in directing custodial services and supervising the activities of custodial staff, both directly and indirectly, ensuring that custodial services meet the guidelines established by APPA Standards as well as Facilities and Operations. The Custodial Zone Coordinator maintains the inventory of cleaning items and equipment needed per UNG location.

Responsibilities

  • Perform custodial quality control checks/inspections of facilities in assigned zone. Ensures that custodial personnel have the equipment and supplies necessary to perform custodial services.

  • Acts as a liaison between Plant Operations ; faculty/staff in assigned zone to resolve concerns, coordinate events, operations and manage pertinent work orders for that zone.

  • Perform custodial functions on an as needed basis to support the mission of that specific zone.

  • Directs; assists custodial supervisor with training, maintenance; repair of equipment and with forecasting, distributing and storing of custodial supplies, chemicals, tools and equipment.

  • Perform admin duties to include but not limited to evaluations, performance counselling, mediation .

  • Ensures custodial services meet the needs of the University and established custodial guidelines by planning and scheduling custodians to work for special events.

  • Participate and provide team support for weekend, after hour and inclement weather events as needed/directed.

  • Other job duties as assigned by facilities management.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Supervisory and administrative skills are required.

  • Knowledge of custodial procedures, supplies, and equipment and the ability to instruct others in their proper application are required.

  • Knowledge of OSHA and other safety regulations pertaining to custodial operations is required.

  • Knowledge specification writing, material recovery operations (recycling), and associated responsibilities are required.

  • Management skills, particularly in planning, organizing, and delegation of responsibilities, are required.

  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills are required.

  • Ability to operate equipment; Able to operate small hand tools; Balancing; Bending Over; Carrying (up to 50 lbs); Climb up and down ladder; Climb up onto and down from equipment.

  • Crawling; Crouching; Eye/hand coordination; Grasping; Hazards such as electrical, chemical, biological; Hearing; Inside/outside environmental factors; Kneeling; Constant, medium, constant lifting; Moving; Pulling; Pushing; Reaching; Reaching Overhead; Repetitive use of hands/arms; Repetitive use of legs; Sitting; Standing; Stooping; Talking; Twisting; Walking ; Ability to operate vehicles; trucks; golf carts.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Three years of experience in custodial services is required, which includes at least two years of lead experience in a University or College environment.

  • Current state of Georgia driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of any recognized technical training courses in custodial services is preferred in leadership and supervision.
