ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

Facilities Services is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, comfortable campus environment for students, faculty, staff and guests.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Custodial Workers are responsible for keeping assigned areas in a clean, sanitary, orderly condition and for maintaining a positive and tidy overall appearance of assigned USF St. Petersburg buildings. Custodial Workers are responsible for general and detailed cleaning of various campus buildings including classrooms, restrooms, lab areas, administrative and faculty offices.

Shift hours to be assigned: Monday-Friday 6:00AM - 2:30PM or 7:00AM - 3:30PM (May require occasional non-shift days/hours and holidays).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

Must be proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English. Must have the ability to lift/move up to 50lbs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs routine maintenance or minor repairs to custodial equipment. Notifies supervisor of equipment defects and of major repairs that need to be done on equipment.

Dusts, polishes and/or cleans furniture, mirrors, doors, walls, door frames, window ledges, etc.Washes windows in offices, halls, classrooms and labs. Cleans whiteboards and blackboards. Removes cob webs as required.

Sweeps, mops, and scrubs floors. Strips, waxes and polishes floors as required.

Vacuums carpets. Shampoo and/or spot clean carpets, rugs and upholstered furniture as required.

Picks up trash and refuse in rooms, hallways, restrooms, stairwells, elevators, classrooms, etc. Transports waste and recyclable materials to central or main disposal receptacles.

Cleans and sanitizes restrooms including vanity/sink mirrors, walls, floors, commodes, doors, etc.Replenishes restroom supplies as required.

Perform all other custodial duties as assigned by a supervisor and required or deemed necessary to meet the needs of the University campus community.

Responsible for possessing an operational two-way radio during the entire work shift. Monitor all custodial communications and respond as required to communications addressed to them.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

This position requires completion of the 9th grade. No specific experience is required. A valid Florida Driver's License may be required, if motorized vehicles of any kind are operated.

PREFERRED:

High school diploma or GED preferred with two or more years of custodial experience to include cleaning of restrooms and offices or classrooms. Two or more years of custodial experience in a University/College educational environment. One or more years of floor care experience with the ability to operate floor care machines, carpet extractors and buffers.
