CUSTODIAL WORKER

APD TACACHALE - FACILITY 4/8

GAINESVILLE FLORIDA

The incumbent in this position is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

Sweeps, mops or vacuums all floor areas moving furniture and equipment as necessary. Dusts, cleans and disinfects all surface areas, furniture, household appliances and floors.

Cleans windows and window screens. Maintains the outside of the building in a presentable manner by sweeping and cleaning the walkways as necessary.

Cleans and sanitizes all bathroom areas. Restocks the paper products (toilet tissue and paper towel). Empties trash cans daily and replaces with a clean liner. Ensures soap dispensers are stocked.

Completes laundry care, bed making.

Completes kitchen duties; washing dishes, operates dish sanitizer, organize and stock food items, condiments, supplements, organizes drawers and cabinets.

Attends training and in-service training as required.

Ensures supply closet is stocked with necessary cleaning products; replaces items that have been depleted.

In case of an emergency or staff shortage, assists other Custodial Workers as required.

Performs other related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to follow instructions and written schedules as it relates to routine cleaning and safety.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions related to proper and safe use of cleaning chemicals.

Knowledge of basic housekeeping tasks, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, laundry care, dishwashing.

Ability to be flexible regarding work assignments and special projects.

Ability to work closely with a team of staff.

Ability to inventory supplies.

Ability to organize supplies, utensils, food and condiments.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT(S)

You must have a valid Florida Drivers License to apply for this position. (If initially hired with an out-of-state license the Florida resident must obtain a valid Florida State drivers license within 30-days of hire. License suspended or revoked for any reason, work permits (Business purpose/Employment/Education only license) and some types of restricted license are not acceptable. License that have Corrective Lenses Restricted, are acceptable, provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position is located at a 24- hour facility. Working Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Off Days: Saturday and Sunday.

The employee assists in achieving and maintaining the highest level of sanitation, cleanliness and appearance of all residence halls apartments and suites. The employee is responsible for notifying management of areas that are in need of repairs and relies on experience and judgement to ensure completion of job duties. The employee must be physically able to perform the required cleaning tasks, which include moving of 45 pounds or more, climbing stairs, operating mechanical and electrically powered cleaning equipment, and other types of physical exertion necessary for task completion. The employee in this position is required to wear a uniform and an identification badge furnished by the University of Florida Department of Housing & Residence Education. Some overtime and weekend work is required during peak periods to maintain the sanitary living conditions within the residence halls and apartment style facilities. Job Responsibilities * Performs cleaning tasks in assigned areas in accordance with established procedures. Cleans such areas as student rooms, bathrooms, offices, public access areas, stairs, elevators, shower rooms, restrooms, tubs, laundry rooms, trash rooms, recreation rooms, storage areas, ironing rooms, building entrances, linen rooms, and outside areas adjacent to assigned buildings. * Operates electrically powered cleaning equipment. * Cleans student rooms between semesters. * Cleans apartments as required. * Collects and removes trash. * Empties sanitary receptacles.
