Public Works Department is looking for dependable hardworking individuals to do manual work in the regular care and cleaning of City buildings. Commercial custodian experience is preferred.

This position is a full time position with competitive benefits including VRS retirement, medical benefits for employee $26. monthly, dental, vision, and paid time off. The work schedule for the first position is Mondays to Fridays, 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM and the second position is Mondays to Fridays 6:30 AM- 3 PM.

Essential Duties: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs regular custodial functions such as sweeping, vacuuming, stripping, waxing, mopping and buffing floors, stairwells and elevators;

  • Gathers and disposes of refuse from interior and exterior of assigned buildings; gathers paper for recycling;

  • Washes windows, walls, woodwork and bathroom fixtures, using ladders and/or aerial tower;

  • Prepares quantities of cleaning and polishing materials appropriate for tasks from bulk containers according to manufacturers specifications;

  • Cleans and disinfects urinals, toilets and lavatories; refills soap, towel and tissue dispensers;

  • Spot cleans carpet and upholstered furniture;

  • Dusts office furniture, partitions, high and low ledges and moldings, and venetian blinds;

  • Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies, materials and equipment;

  • Reports repairs beyond capabilities of custodial workers to supervisor;

  • Performs routine security to include locking and unlocking doors and deactivating alarm system of assigned building, and reports unusual observations to supervisors;

  • Operates a variety of specialized custodial equipment, such as floor buffers, carpet extractors, wet/dry vacuums. etc.;

  • Loads and unloads cleaning and polishing equipment and materials to be transported by truck or van;

  • Responds to special requests from user agencies;

  • Responds to emergencies such as snow, flood, wind storms, etc.;

When assigned to Refuse Department

  • Assembles, repairs, delivers and swaps trash carts;

  • Monitors and clean citizen convenience center;

  • Assists with brush and bulk collection;

  • Assists with recycling duties, as needed;

  • Using semi-automated system (hydraulic mechanism lift cart) loads refuse into packer receptacle and clean area around cans;

  • Provides information to customers, explains refuse policies and procedures and writes violations;

  • Participates in safety, technical and team training;

  • Operates and assists with dead animal/miscellaneous refuse truck.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Other duties provide direct or indirect service to the citizens may be assigned;

  • When unusual situations occur and/or the City Manager declares a State of Emergency, all employees may be required to accept special assignments and perform as needed to ensure appropriate service delivery

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

10th Grade and some building cleaning experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Requirements:Relevant background checks must be completed and approved.

Based on assignment, may require Criminal Record Check, polygraph, reference checks, tuberculin and drug screen as part of physical examination and/or driving record check completed prior to employment.

Must successfully complete IS100 and IS700 National Incident Management (NIMS) training within 90 days of employment. May also be required to complete higher levels of NIMS training as determined appropriate for the position.

Travels from location to location to resolve issues as stated above but could also serve as an onsite technician for a particular customer providing both technical and administrative duties or as a hybrid technician who is both on site and roving. Provides installation assistance training or troubleshooting assistance to a FSA and/or FST1. Responsibilities Essential Duties: * Repairs, maintains, programs and installs telecommunications hardware, associated LAN/WAN/networking hardware/software, various electronic equipment and wiring per specifications, codes, standards and operational procedures in correctional facilities * Repairs/installs phones, kiosk, video terminals, WAP's, tablets and other required equipment within correctional facilities within assigned area of responsibility. * Maintain and provide operations support for site surveys, pre-bid meetings and/or sales conferences * Communicates with dispatchers to receive work assignments and provides dispatchers with ETA for arrival and departure information * Troubleshoots situations where standard procedures have failed in isolating or resolving problems while interfacing with multiple departments for problem resolution * Required to assist in educating and training Securus customers, providing information to technical support and following direction given on Securus products & services * Provide administrative services on as needed basis or when dedicated to a particular customer: data entry including PIN/PAN, blocks/unblocks, customer reporting, training, providing CDR reports, assisting with video visitation and burning recordings and/or video to CD/DVD per subpoena and testifying in court when required * Maintains inventory of equipment and tools * Manages and maintains assigned company inventories and assets (tool, vehicle, parts inventory, laptop etc.) * Demonstrates proficient skills with telephony-pulling cable, terminating cable, trouble shoot wiring, loading configuration files, install and maintain all Securus equipment Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Demonstrate the proficient understanding of the customers' service needs and work to improve the operation of their facility with regard to all of Securus products such as: Inmate Calling System, Video Visitation, Kiosk and/or Tablets * Working knowledge and the ability to learn of all applicable practices, standards and codes (electrical, cabling, fiber, wireless, networking, conduit, industry, and Securus equipment) * Ability to work all tasks to completion with a high sense of urgency and the highest work quality * Negotiates alternatives means of resolving issues and escalates issues when necessary. * Responds to requests from management and customers via phone, e-mail and/or with reporting * Adheres to Field Service Standards and all Company policies. * Must be able to pass multiple in depth background checks * Self-starting, able to self-train on telephony based product line * Excellent ability at multi-tasking, setting priorities and tracking issues concurrently * Strong communications skills, written and verbal, for working with customers, dispatchers, technical support, specialists, other field technicians and management * Must have a clean valid driving record Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: * High school diploma or GED * 2 years of installation repair and maintenance of telecom and networking devices. * Experience working with Windows OS, VOIP, Adtran AOS, Cisco IOS and wireless technology * Telephony experience - including but not limited to: pulling cable (Cat3 & Cat5), terminations (110, 66, Krone, RJ11 & RJ45) up to 100 pair cables and troubleshooting wiring / T1 / CO dial tone problems Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in conduit bending (EMT and Rigid) * Microsoft Certifications (A+, N+, MCSE etc…) * Cisco Certifications (CCNA etc…) * Electronics / Electrical Certification or Degree * 5 years or more of related experience * Wireless technology experience * Fiber termination experience * Previous experience working in law enforcement or correctional environment Physical Requirements: Standing, sitting, walking, speaking, listening, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and manipulating tools, typing, using peripheral computer tools.
