Seeking a detail-oriented Custodial Superintendent to oversee and manage all aspects of facility cleanliness and maintenance, ensuring a safe and pristine environment for all occupants!

ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The Facilities Services Department is responsible for custodial services, grounds and landscaping, maintenance, repair of university vehicles, waste management and recycling, and the operation of the USF Post Office.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of this position is to manage and oversee custodial services for an assigned area of campus during an assigned shift. This position is responsible for executing university and departmental policies and procedures, maintaining custodial programs, staff training, and inspection of work performed.

This position works closely with the manager and the university community to monitor the consistency and quality of custodial services. This position is designated as essential personnel and participates in on-call rotation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises multiple teams of custodial workers, coordinating daily routine duties with both planned and unplanned assignments. Recommends, develops and enforces policies and procedures and participate in developing employee training.

Hires, trains, provides feedback, and evaluates staff on their technique, performance, and the results they produce. Provides quality control by inspecting facilities and furnishings to ensure they are consistently maintained to applicable industry and departmental standards. Conducts daily building inspections in FAMIS.

Determines and communicates to employees the appropriate resources, methods, information, and solutions throughout the shift. Promotes and actively implements the OAS Service Philosophy.

Performs administrative duties such as daily attendance tracking and reporting, administers disciplinary and corrective actions as needed to maintain an effective operation, and special projects. Prepares rosters, checklists, cleaning schedules, reports, evaluations and conducts routine data entry for timesheets, projects, and other assignments including payroll related tasks as assigned by the manager. Analyzes employee performance, results, and customer feedback to identify potential service gaps and improvement opportunities.

Responds promptly to customer inquiries, takes corrective action when necessary, and provides timely follow-up to the customer. Seeks opportunities to learn about the capabilities of existing and newly emerging technology.

Participates in the On-Call rotation for after-hours service, which includes non-business hours, weekends, and holidays. Adjusts own work schedule as needed to support the organization when needed.

Ensures chemicals, supplies, tools, and equipment are provided to custodial workers and are in good working order. Performs inventory count and updates equipment status in VEOCI (or other software required by the department).

Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

The position requires a high school diploma and four years of appropriate custodial experience or leadership experience in a relevant field. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

PREFERRED:

Associates Degree; experience managing diverse teams. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:

Strong technology skills; strong written, listening, and verbal skills; strong critical thinking skills.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS:

This position may require lifting between 25 and 50 pounds, pushing and pulling, bending, walking, standing for long periods of time, both indoor and outdoor conditions, occasional warehouse environment and the regular daily use of a variety of custodial equipment for the duration of the assigned shift. Must have a valid Florida Driver's license.

Essential personnel are generally defined as employees critical to ensure the operations of essential functions of the department. Additionally, on a case by case basis, staff members may be designated as essential by management based on the nature of the emergency and/or the availability of other personnel.

Individuals identified as essential personnel, may be expected to be on-site regardless of the employee's normal work schedule. In Services, the Grounds and Custodial staff are determined as essential.
