Curriculum Supervisor, Exceptional Student Education (Ese) Private Schools Job Details | Broward County Public Schools

POSITION GOAL

Enhance student achievement by providing technical assistance to the area superintendent in implementing the comprehensive Broward County Program for Exceptional Student Education (ESE).

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Curriculum Supervisor, Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Private Schools shall carry out the performance responsibilities listed below:

• Serve as advisor for the area regarding the management of funds designated to support ESE students attending private schools and programs and inform the Director, Exceptional Student Education of any irregularities noted in Exceptional Student Education Programs for the assigned geographic area.

• Develop a plan for providing technical assistance to private schools' staff and traditional public school staffing teams to ensure their capability for program implementation and evaluation in cooperation with appropriate District staff.

• Act as the designee of the Director, Specialized Instruction to provide meaningful consultation to Private Schools for Exceptional Student Services.

• Act as a direct link for technical assistance and problem-solving by identifying area needs and planning and coordinating with the Director, Specialized Instruction, and appropriate District personnel and schools regarding ESE curriculum and training needs of ESE Private School Services.

• Coordinate with the appropriate ESE District Private School Services staff in providing meaningful consultation and training programs for personnel and families to meet the long- and short-range goals and objectives for Private Schools Exceptional Students and ESE Programs.

• Resolve issues requiring data analysis by maintaining accurate statistical and demographic data on Exceptional Student Education Private Schools that service students with disabilities and considering the integration of both legislated and District policy positions as applicable within the parentally placed private school area.

• Ensure that programs and services outlined in the Florida Statute and District provide meaningful consultation practices, and support parentally placed ESE students attending eligible private schools.

• Ensure that services for parentally placed private school students with disabilities have been delivered and meet applicable legislation and District policies by cooperating with District staff in the implementation and monitoring of Federal Projects and District policies related to Exceptional Student Education.

• Evaluate the effectiveness of area Exceptional Student Education personnel in cooperation with appropriate District staff.

• Identify District professional personnel to assist in program development upon request.

• Identify and develop a plan for comprehensive programming for all exceptional students attending private schools within the assigned geographic area.

• Ensure that all parentally placed private school exceptional education students are afforded rights of due process as specified by the District Procedures for Private Schools.

• Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida.

• Participate in training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities.

• Review current developments, literature, and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.

• Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures. • Follow federal and state, as well as School Board policies.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• An earned master's degree from an accredited institution.

• A minimum of five (5) years of experience and/or training in the field related to the title of the position.

• Florida certification in Administration and Supervision and in an area of Exceptional Student Education or School Psychology.

• Computer skills are required for the position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Demonstrated knowledge of district and state school choice options.

• Demonstrated knowledge of the Florida Empowerment Scholarships for Unique Abilities and school choice options for students with disabilities.

• Bilingual skills.

SIGNIFICANT CONTACTS-frequency, contact, purpose

Work collaboratively with parents, private schools, and District staff at all levels to ensure appropriate programs and services are delivered.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
