Position: Curriculum Director

Effective August 2024

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Attend and participate in all meetings of the Board and its committees, except when own employment or salary is under consideration.

  • Conduct a periodic audit of the total school program, and advise the Board on recommendations of the education advancement of the schools.

  • Recommend to the Board for its adoptions of all courses of study, curriculum guides, and major changes in text and time schedules to be used in schools.

  • Study and revise, together with the staff, all curriculum guides and courses of study on a continuing basis.

  • Supervise and direct methods of teaching, supervision, and administration in effect in the schools.

  • Keep informed of modern educational thought and practices by advanced study, by visiting school systems elsewhere, by attending educational conferences, and by other appropriate means, and keeping the Board informed of trends in education.

  • Provide leadership in the planning, development, and implementation of instructional programs.

  • Provide leadership in the selection of textbooks and provide guidance concerning textbook and other instructional material usage.

  • Provide leadership in the formulation of a philosophy and objectives for the assessment program.

  • Work with outside education authorities and regulatory bodies on curriculum, instruction, and assessment issues.

  • Work with principals, department heads, teachers, instructional coaches, and subject matter specialists in developing the general philosophy and goals of the curriculum.

  • Work with principals and teacher committees in coordinating district-wide assessment programs and other evaluative measures used by the district.

  • Oversee professional development activities for the district. Ensure a staff development program.

  • Monitor the accreditation process in conjunction with the principles.

  • Oversee the coordination of state tests.

  • Coordinate and monitor the district school improvement and MTSS process alongside the lead members.

  • Work closely with the Director of State and Federal Grants to review program needs including evaluations/program monitoring and data.

  • Oversees all Instructional Coaches and is responsible for monthly meetings and evaluations upon direction of Superintendent or designee.

  • Follow all Board policies, state laws, and regulations.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Master's degree from an accredited university required, Curriculum and Instruction preferred.

  • Minimum of four (4) years of successful classroom instruction.

  • Experience at the elementary and secondary level is preferred.

  • Valid Michigan certificate in administration.

  • Prior experience in school administration is preferred.

  • Experience with MTSS, K-12 Curriculum, School Improvement, data, and grants is preferred.

Working Schedule and Rate of Pay:

52 week per year position

$105,000-$120,000
