ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The Florida Center for Instructional Technology provides professional learning, digital content, and technology integration evaluation services to schools and districts worldwide. Located at the University of South Florida, FCIT has been a leader in K-20 technology integration since 1982.

The Florida Center for Instructional Technology (FCIT) is funded by the Florida Department of Education, school districts, educational foundations, and others to provide professional learning, digital content, and technology integration evaluation services to schools and districts worldwide. FCIT's free resource websites average over two million hits per school day from nearly 200 countries and territories.

These sites are specifically designed to support K-12 curriculum with age-appropriate content and no advertising. Our fully-online iTeach Professional Learning courses for teachers and administrators begin each month. FCIT provides instructional design services in support of non-credit workforce education programs and facilitates K-12 engagement across the USF system.

The TIM Tools suite of technology integration evaluation tools is a subscription service licensed by FCIT to public and private schools, districts, and ministries of education worldwide. The suite includes perceptions and uses survey, a lesson observation tool, a survey creator, and support for action research in the classroom.

POSTION SUMMARY:

The Curriculum Developer for Youth Experiences will work as a resource for youth experience educational programs for FCIT. The primary duty of the Curriculum Developer is to design, develop, and produce K-12 courseware based upon program objectives, format, methodology, target audience, content, budget, timelines, and available facilities and resources.

This position will also support various programs within the Center, utilizing curriculum design and multimedia technology. This position will collaborate with SMEs, faculty, staff, and other Colleges to design and develop needed courseware, and will tailor courses in order to train faculty, staff, community, and other stakeholders on developed programs. The Curriculum Developer for Youth Experiences will review and modify all lessons, materials, labs, and instruction to ensure it imparts the maximum amount of value. This position applies expertise in communications, technology, and instructional design across a range of media formats and platforms to produce in-person and online courses, packaged program content and presentations.

JOB DUTIES:

Participate in all phases of the instructional design process from analysis to delivery. Assist in developing the goals and objectives for the youth experiences curriculum; define learning goals for each training initiative.

Identify the most appropriate and cost-effective training approach, including selection of media. Develop or recommend training policies and protocols for youth experiences' training. Evaluate functionality and accessibility of media and content delivery tools on a variety of devices, browsers, and operating systems.

In collaboration with team members, SMEs, and faculty, designs, develops, and produces engaging and interactive multi-media infused instructional materials, training curriculum, and course content tailored to the audience and distribution method, using effective instructional design strategies to create successful learning environments. Develops, coordinates, and executes exercises and workshops.

Provides feedback on necessary curriculum modifications or shortcomings. Ensures grammar, organization, and purpose are clear for intended audience.

Serves as subject matter expert on training content and as an internal consultant and advisor in youth experiences' training. Develops or utilizes instructional support materials, including instructor manuals, learner guides, and other materials as needed.

Maintains effective channels of communication between colleges, departments, faculty, and stakeholders through emails, reports, training calendars, and administrative functions. Works with Information Technology department staff on technical issues and requirements.

Consult with SMEs, faculty, staff, SUS institutions and other stakeholders to identify and analyze key issues within the field of youth experiences and develop needed courseware, multimedia technology, design, and delivery methods to address those needs. Collaborate with departments regarding the awareness and promotion of youth experiences' programs to the community, SUS institutions and others.

Conduct research to remain fluent and knowledgeable in best practices, strategies, tools and current topics in youth experience education and online learning, while assuring courses are developed to the most current evidence-based practices in youth programs. Research current technology to understand capabilities of required system or network.

Perform other duties as required in support of the department or program.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience)

Minimum:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Communication, Education, Adult Education, or equivalent field with one year of experience in a professional training position; or a Master's degree in the same field. Certain grants and programs may also have specific education and/or certification requirements specific to the subject matter area of the program.

Preferred:

Master's degree in Computer Science, MIS, instructional design, education, or related field OR at least 3-5 years' experience in developing online technical training modules and delivery of technology-related programs, particularly cybersecurity, curriculum is desired.

Solid understanding and expertise in E-learning tools, training methodologies, principles, and techniques. Experience with Captivate or other e-learning platforms.

Possess technical writing skills related to content development and instructional materials development. Experience in an academic center/institute, non-for-profit, or private sector organization. Must be a team player with strong communication skills and possess the ability to present related topics to diverse constituents and articulate technical subject matter to non-technical audiences.

Special Skills/Training:

Strong organizational, project management, and data analytical skills are required. Must have excellent writing and communication skills with the ability to create specialized documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.

Experience as a facilitator and learning/instructional designer. Proficiency in creating multimedia assets for digital learning, using technologies such as but not limited to Articulate, Adobe, and Camtasia.

Employment with the Florida Center for Instructional Technology requires you to complete a level one background check. Failure to complete this requirement will be taken as a refusal of any job offer

FLSB1310 Equivalency:

4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.

6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.
