What you will do as a Cultural and Community Engagement Coordinator:

  • Provides cultural perspective while designing programs, initiatives, and events to ensure that traditional teachings and practices are respected.

  • Builds a strong relationship with the Oneida Nation community to create interest, encourage participation, and receive feedback for programs and events.

  • Develops and maintains an annual Community Engagement Calendar based on the needs and wants of the community.

  • Creates and coordinates a schedule of classes and workshops that teach Indigenous skills such programs as regalia making, beadwork classes, and traditional foods classes.

  • Facilitates activities and experiences that strengthen the connection with land, nature, natural surroundings, and food sovereignty practices.

To be successful as a Cultural and Community Engagement Coordinator, you'll need:

  • High School Diploma/Equivalency; some college preferred.

  • Extensive knowledge of Oneida Nation culture and history including Regalia, traditional foods, Iroquois beadwork.

  • Experience in program development, event planning, and community engagement.

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with community members.

  • To be comfortable presenting and teaching cultural skills and knowledge.
