Cultural Anthropology Adjunct Instructor: Fall 2024

Manhattanville University is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach Cultural Anthropology for the Fall 2024 semester (September 3 - December 20). Please note that if the Fall semester is successful, there will be the possibility of future employment.

Format: Courses are scheduled to run in-person in the Fall at Manhattanville University.

The course is currently scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:15-12:30. The University is open to scheduling a second section of the course. Manhattanville uses Brightspace as our LMS.

Course Description:

Anthropology is a holistic approach to the study of humankind. By examining different cultural systems around the globe, anthropologists endeavor to understand how people make sense of the world in which they live, their beliefs and practices.

This class will introduce students to the basic concepts, theories and methodologies of anthropology. Topics to be studied include: the concept of culture, marriage and kinship, linguistics, exchange patterns, ethnography, and rituals.

Requirements/Preferences:

Applicants should possess an MA or PhD in Anthropology or Sociology. Previous experience teaching required. To apply, please send cover letter and CV to jobs@mville.edu.
