GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Present culinary workshops for The John C. Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition to K-12 schools across Massachusetts according to established instructional materials.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Director and Manager of Operations, The John C. Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition

EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Presents culinary workshops to K-12 school professionals on an as requested basis according to established procedure set by The John C. Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition.

  • Assists with culinary workshop development and recipe testing, as requested.

  • Communicates schedule and workshop availability with The John C. Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition.

  • Represents The John C. Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition in a positive and professional manner.

  • Communicates relevant information and feedback from workshops to The John C. Stalker Institute of Food and Nutrition.

  • Accountable for ensuring that affirmative action, equal opportunity, and diversity are integrally tied to all actions and decisions in areas of responsibility.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Travel using personal vehicle throughout the state of Massachusetts.

  • Ability to obtain and transport workshop materials, including workshop supplies, laptop, food, culinary equipment, etc.

  • Utilize school kitchens, equipment, and other designated school space during workshop instruction.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional Culinary Training

  • At least 2 years of professional culinary experience

  • Proven professional presentation and culinary demonstration skills, including effective communication skills, the ability to engage the audience, and present in a clear, concise, positive and professional manner.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Culinary degree

  • Registered dietitian credential

  • School Nutrition Specialist credential

  • Greater than 2 years of professional culinary experience

  • K-12 school nutrition program experience

  • Knowledge of K-12 school nutrition program regulations and current practices.

  • Bilingual in Spanish

Additional Information:

This is a part-time non-benefited, contract position, with hours based upon requests for culinary workshops. The pay rate is $65/hr-$68/hr, commensurate with education and experience.

This is a grant-funded position. Continued employment is contingent upon continued grant funding.
