Job Summary

Job Description:
Culinary Consultant

The mission of this position is to build purchasing income by increasing compliance to negotiated purchasing programs. Success is achieved by providing superior customer service to external operators while giving them the tools to achieve sector initiatives. Position will be located in Charlotte, NC.


  • Develop and initiate action plans to improve customer compliance to purchasing programs and to support conversion initiatives

  • Product knowledge resource for opportunity analysis review

  • Support conversion activities with product support and expertise

  • Assist customers in establishing and executing strategic purchasing initiatives to drive revenues

  • Support culinary activities for on boarding new customers

  • Coordinate Product Match and Mapping activities for Conversion files, Market Baskets and new business on boarding

  • Coordinate samples for customers

  • Coordinate product cutting and showings

  • Coordinate vendor training and product related activities

  • Work with manufacturers on any product or program related activities

  • Coordinate nutritional/spec information for members

  • Coordinate and lead consulting support for customers


  • Candidate must have 3+ years of food service and/or purchasing experience

  • Strong culinary background and operational experience

  • Strong organizational skills needed to manage multiple projects.

  • Strong professional presentation and interpersonal skills combined with good verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Strong excel background is needed.

  • Ability to travel approximately 40% annually

  • Knowledge of FoodBuy systems to support product work

  • BA, BS or Culinary Degree

  • Proficiency with Foodbuy internal systems and programs is a plus

  • Maintain and contribute to the development of the Foodbuy image by representing the company in a professional and positive manner.

  • Ability to work in groups as well as individually while holding multiple stakeholders accountable to outcomes.

Responsibilities * Assists in evaluating products for purchase by preparing and testing products. * Monitors and corrects any variance from specifications in product quality and handling. * Reviews menu costs and recipe cards within the park. * Prepares, cooks, finishes and presents food for park catered events. * Follows quality-assurance measures and ensures appropriate follow-up in the commissary and makes recommendations for in park. * Maintains proper documentation of food specifications, menu costs and recipe cards. * Provides subordinates with necessary information and tools to effectively perform their duties. * Keeps abreast of current trends and practices in field of expertise. * Oversees operation of central food processing facility (commissary) and VIP catered events. * Ensures proper staffing, production levels and delivery schedules. * Coordinates with the Warehouse and departments on purchasing and storage of foods products. * Takes steps to insure that subordinates are trained in all facets of the operation such as procedure, production flow, equipment usage and cleaning. * Monitors that all safety procedures are followed in all areas. * Insures that all work, guest, storage and service areas are cleaned timely and meet local and state sanitation guidelines. * Completes administrative paperwork (i.e. time cards, schedules, labor reports, evaluations and associate files documents) as required by department. * Maintains clear, concise and specific lines of communication between management, supervisory staff, associates and other divisions. * Controls costs associated with the area, i.e., food costs, labor cost. * Performs guest service and food quality control evaluations. * Provides guest service according to Cedar Fair standards when serving the guest or working with subordinates, including initiating guest interactions, answering questions and giving directions. * Maintains cleanliness and safety in assigned work area and performs all duties in compliance with Cedar Fair Safety guidelines and requirements and reports all unsafe or unusual conditions to supervision. * Meets scheduling availability requirements, including nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs. * Meets Cedar Fair's attendance requirements as outlined in Cedar Fair's attendance policies. * Adheres to Cedar Fair's Rules of Conduct including specific costuming and grooming standards as outlined in Employee * Guidelines and other park/division specific policies and procedures. * Other duties may be assigned.
