Culinary Aide

The Culinary Aide performs designated work and cleaning responsibilities in accordance with sanitation standards.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains high sanitation and personal hygiene levels.

  • Assists in preparation and portion of meal items according to menu and diet requirements.

  • Assists in the service of meals in accordance with sanitation standards. Any substandard quality of food must be brought to the attention of the Dietary Services Manager.

  • Sets up trays and carts according to menu and diet requirements.

  • Monitors food and beverage to assure proper temperature for service.

  • Collects soiled trays and washes dishes.

  • Cleans equipment as assigned.

  • Prepares dietary supplements/snacks and other foods according to standardized recipes or manufacturers instructions.

  • Maintains food service area in clean condition at all times in accordance with facility procedures.

  • Prepares and maintains supply of food substitutes to accommodate resident choices, cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences.

  • Handles, stores, and disposes of food supplies, and prepares food in accordance with departmental procedures and in compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Cleans workspaces, cooking and serving equipment, trays, and dishes according to department procedures.

  • Loads and unloads the dishwasher. Stores clean equipment and dishes.

  • Uses food supplies and equipment in an efficient manner to prevent waste.

  • Uses food preparation equipment properly and follows proper cleaning techniques and preventative maintenance schedules.

  • Communicates with Dietary Services Manager or Supervisor throughout the shift as needed to best meet needs of the residents.

Demonstrates C.A.R.E. values to our residents, familymembers, customers and staff.

Prior foodservice experience is preferred.

Certificationin sanitation/Safe Food Handling is preferred.

We are currently accepting applications for the following position: Housekeeping/ Laundry Aide The Housekeeping Aide provides cleaning services for a safe, sanitary, comfortable, and homelike environment for residents, staff, and the public. Housekeeping services provided are in accord with facility policies and procedures and consistent with state and federal laws and regulations. The Laundry Aide folds, sorts, processes, and transports laundry and linens throughout the facility so that sufficient supplies are available to meet resident needs. Laundry services are provided in accordance with facility policies and procedures and in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations to enhance resident comfort and enhance the quality of life. ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS: * Cleans assigned resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas daily and according to facility policy while maintaining resident's privacy at all times. Employees must knock and announce before entering any resident room. * Washes beds and mattresses and remakes beds after discharge of residents. * Keeps utility and storage rooms in clean and orderly condition. * Replaces soiled drapes and cubicle curtains. * Disinfects and sterilizes equipment and supplies. * Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floor. * Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies. * Posts signs indicating a safety hazard anytime housekeeping activities pose environmental hazards to staff, residents, visitors, or others in the facility. * Dusts furniture, handrails, and equipment. * Polishes metalwork. * Washes walls, ceiling, and woodwork. * Washes windows, door panels, and sills. * Empties wastebaskets, including biohazardous waste and other materials that require special handling, only in accord with facility procedures. * Transports trash and waste to disposal area. * Uses personal protective equipment when at risk of exposure to blood or other potentially hazardous body fluids and all other times indicated by facility policies and procedures. * Complies with all safety instructions and procedures when using chemical substances. Refers to labels and Safety Data Sheets for instructions. Keeps all chemicals and cleaning supplies in their original containers. Asks supervisor for assistance if unsure of proper handling techniques. * Monitors and reports evidence of rodents or pests to supervisor. * Attends survey training and interacts with state surveyors as instructed by immediate supervisor. * Monitors workplace for safety and fire hazards and corrects or reports potential problems. Reports housekeeping and maintenance problems including equipment breakdown to immediate supervisor. Participates in fire and disaster drills. In the event of an emergency, carries out assigned duties to assure resident safety. * Secures housekeeping supplies so that residents are unable to access. * Washes and folds laundry and linens in accordance with facility policy. * Places laundry/linens, cleaning material, and bleach into equipment and sets automatic controls to clean. * Operates laundry equipment according to manufacturer's instructions. * Removes laundry/linens from equipment. * Hangs, bags, folds, and bundles laundry/linens for delivery to unit/resident knocking and announcing before entering resident rooms. * Inspects laundry item-by-item and reports wear and damage to supervisor. * Maintains proper separation between soiled and clean laundry. * Returns clean laundry and linens to units promptly. * Stocks linen carts and closets as scheduled. * Notifies supervisor of any difficulty in meeting unit needs for laundry * Places laundry carts in proper positions within unit.
